It's still on a par with a gun. Causes unnecessary damage, unprofessional regardless of whether its fda approved. The only responsible way is with a piercing needle by a reputable piercer. There's so much information out there explaining why. The fact the part where the device was used was cut out shows you know its controversial and could do better, otherwise if you absolutely stood by it you'd have left it in. I suffered with my first piercings at 11 because of this kind of tool. Since then had many piercings the correct way with no issue.
