Shoemaking is a kind of cooking. Tasty food makes you want it again and share it with others. I hope my shoes are like that. Stylish shoes should be something you want to show off and gift to others. "멈추지 마 송재훈" "Don't stop, I'll help you"- The shoe's toe lifts up, adding propulsion to help you take another step forward. _ [CANVAS FOR ARTISTS] EUNYOO EDITION : 78, 2024. 04 스니커즈 커스텀 작업하면서 ‘나는, 그리고 우리는 상처와 슬픔과 거절과 슬픔을 겪고도 그것을 딛고 앞으로 나아간다.’라고 썼던 메시지에서 더 나아가, 커스텀한 XXX 세븐에잇언더를 신고 어디든 원하는 곳으로 갈 수 있다는 메세지를 담았습니다 :) 제목이 78인 이유는 세븐에잇언더에 맞추어 42초 영상 내에 배경이 78개가 들어가기 때문입니다. 'I, and we, move forward despite the wounds, sadness, and rejection.' It is the message I incorporated in XXX Seven Eight Under, in which you can go anywhere you want. _ [CANVAS FOR ARTISTS] Youngmin Kang EDITION : I walk, so I chew, 2024. 03 이번 작품을 자세히 보시면 솔에 사람의 치아 배열과 잇몸이 끼워져있습니다. 신발과 관련 없는 신체 부위를 끼워 넣음으로써 발의 움직임과 턱의 움직임에 대한 연관성에 대해 생각을 해보게 됩니다. 신발 거치대 또한 껌을 씹는 것처럼 껌이 늘어나 있는 조형의 거치대입니다. 이런 어울리지 않는 것 같은 조형들을 조합해 봄으로 우리는 어울림을 넘어 다른 생각을 시도해 볼 수 있는 가능성에 대해 이야기해 볼 수 있다고 생각합니다. If you look closely, you'll find the teeth and gums in the sole. Seeing irrelevant body parts on shoes would make you ponder the correlation between movements on your feet and the jaw. The shoe rack is also a sculptural piece that extends like chewing gum. _ [CANVAS FOR ARTISTS] DOY EDITION : Appearance, 2024. 02 다른 예술품은 맘에 안 들면 버릴 수 있는데, 타투는 몸에 새기면 그 영감을 죽을 때까지 공유하게 돼요. 타투하는 사람은 직업윤리상 건강한 영감을 갖고 있을 때, 건강한 영감을 줄 수 있을 때만 이 일을 해야 한다고 생각해요. 예를 들어, 죽음과 삶이라는 영역이 있으면 삶 쪽으로, 빛과 어둠이라면 빛 쪽으로 가려고 하는 게 제 원칙이고 철학입니다. While other kinds of artworks can be disposed when disliked, tattoos are shared with the body until death. So I believe tattoo artists should only work when they have and can provide ethical and healthy inspiration. For example, if there's a theme of life and death, I lean towards life; if it's light and darkness, I go for the light. _ [CANVAS FOR ARTISTS] DOY EDITION : Appearance, 2024. 02 타투는 누군가의 외모라는 가장 근본적인 이야기를 하고 싶었습니다. 외모는 모두 다릅니다. 그리고 정해진 규칙이나 범주가 존재하지 않습니다. 하지만, 제가 살아가는 대한민국의 미디어는 이 외모를 평가하고 차별합니다. 방송에서 타투는 가려져야 합니다. 이는 외모에 대한 폭력입니다. 경연 프로의 참가자는 타투를 가리고, 심사위원은 드러내는 차별도 대수롭지 않게 여깁니다. 단순하게 보자면 타투는 외모(Appearance)이며, 기능적으로는 자신의 몸을 이용한 강력한 선언(Declaration)으로 활용되기도 합니다. 다른 우주의 어떤 예수님은 하나님을 너무 사랑한 나머지 타투쟁이(Pray Time)가 되었습니다. 이런 단편적인 것들의 나열로 내가 생각할 수 있는 한계 밖에도 진리(Truth)가 존재함을 이야기하고 싶었습니다. 타인의 외모를 바라보는 시선이 그래야 합니다. 그렇게 타인의 외모를 향한 천박한 잣대를 거두었으면 합니다. I wanted to tell the most fundamental story of tattoos: they are someone's appearance. Everyone looks different, and there are no set rules or categories. However, the media in South Korea, the country I live in, judges and discriminates against it. Tattoos must be covered on broadcasts, which is violence against appearance. It often differentiates in choosing what to reveal as well; for example, on survival programs, they would cover contestants' tattoos while showing those of the judges. Simply put, tattoos are appearances and serve as powerful functional declarations using one's body. A Jesus from another universe may have become a tattooist, "Pray Time" out of their enthusiastic love for God. By listing such fragmented instances, I wanted to tell the truth beyond the limits of what I can conceive.
