The CINE GEAR EXPO 2024 INDUSTRY INNOVATOR AWARD was awarded to TEAM DEAKINS PODCAST on Friday night, June 7, 2024 at the highly acclaimed Cine Gear Expo Reception & Awards night!
The @team.deakins Podcast, crafted by the acclaimed duo of Roger and James Ellis Deakins, stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in filmmaking. Roger and James are known for their visual work in film, resulting in 2 Oscar wins and 16 nominations. With a rich tapestry of dialogues featuring a diverse array of filmmakers from across the globe and spanning every discipline essential to the art of cinema, the podcast underscores Roger and James’ deep-seated belief in the communal nature of creating a film, an ethos that is palpably felt throughout the episodes.

One of our top events during Cine Gear was Women in Media’s Altitude Awards - a celebratory gathering highlighting the achievements of outstanding women and gender non-conforming cinematographers, gaffers and camera operators.
As well as recognising the achievements of the semi-finalists and winners of this year’s awards and marvelling at their stunning work along with the recipient of the Emerging Filmmakers prize we were delighted to celebrate Susan Lewis – the ICON Award recipient and shining light in the industry who has played a key role in public relations, communications, and community building. The standing ovation Susan received was well deserved!

LUMIX GH7: ARRI LogC3 Workflow for “The Cookie Jar” at Steven J Ross Theater on June 8th at Cine Gear Expo LA hosted at Warner Bros. Studios
Filmmaker and LUMIX Ambassador Ben Staley used the new Panasonic LUMIX GH7 for his short film “The Cookie Jar.” Attendees discovered how Staley with Director of Photography Joseph Seif and colorist Greg White achieved cinematic quality by recording in ARRI LogC3, using the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF as the A camera and the Micro Four Thirds GH7 as the B and crash camera. Their use of unique lenses and innovative tools added to the GH7’s professional filmmaking capabilities.
