My last Instagram gigs review for this week will talking about
@trppmusic ! If you’re a fan of dirty, raw, fuzzy, and noisy guitar sounds, I highly recommend you this South Korean noise-pop trio!
I might know some South Korean indie exponents. From Linus Blanket to
@adoyband , from
@litlking to
@so.yoon , Seoul-based shoegaze duo, The Majestic High to the pop sound of
@saysueme . Or even Bye Bye Badman’s Hongdae to
@soumbalgwang_official from Busan. But for TRPP? They’re quite new to me. Ok, maybe I ever heard their name, but to be honest, never explored their music yet!
So thanks to
@lucfest.tw to brought them to Tainan! As a big fans of dirty guitar sounds, not too hard for me to fall in love with them! To make it easier to compare and imagine, this trio took many influences from early 90s UK Shoegaze bands. We can’t avoid the Kevin Shield-Bilinda Butcher effect to their sound, and we can find Spaceman 3 vibes or Evil Heat’s
@primalscreamofficial too. The drum sample on my favorite track “Liars” reminded me of the JAMC’s Reverence.
@nueru_g @bye_xoxo_ and
@gilajung are playing all of their songs on the three guitars with bass and beats on the sample!
And yeah, Gila Jung, a lead vocalist also had Jim Reid’s attitude. Shambling guitarist with black glasses-empty gaze at the dark room. Haha.
In Tainan, the southern part of Taiwan, I only got their two last songs. So when I got the info about their show in Taipei, the northern part of Taiwan, I decided to come to ended up my curiosity to them! And lucky me, for Taipei set, they play more songs. More than 12!
Taipei concert was more intimate! I love
@thewalllivehouse stage and am already familiar with the atmosphere. I think, this venue is very suitable for them! There were technical problems for
@bye_xoxo_ guitar on the first three songs, but they can still play gorgeously. In the last song, they played “Go Away” from their self-titled debut (2021). Taipei dinosaurs pop duo,
@thedinosaursskin as a local hero also went to the stage to dance!
@bye_xoxo_ take her polaroid camera, left her guitar and tambourine, and take some shoot, while throwing the photos to the audience. Lucky me, I’ve got one!
