On Friday, July 5th and Saturday, July 6th, HQ Gwangan will be clearing out our keg fridge for the ladies and gents from Pyeongchang’s White Crow Brewing for a special tap takeover weekend. This will be their fifth visit to Busan, and every time they make their way here, it’s a delicious and heavily drunken blast!
Here’s a little more about the brewery and the beers:
White Crow Brewing has been making some of Korea’s finest craft beer in the mountains of Pyeongchang since 2018. Along with their brewery in the mountains of Pyeongchang, they’ve also got a gorgeous taphouse in Gangneung. The following White Crow beers will be available on tap:
White Crow IPA (6.5% ABV)
White Crow’s signature IPA—generous hop additions and dry hopping lend bright notes of tropical and citrus fruits. A modern IPA with restrained bitterness.
Weekend Warrior Hazy Double IPA (8.0% ABV) - A collaboration with Nom Beer Co
A deceptively smooth and soft double NEIPA with notes of mango, melon, and tangerine. The perfect companion, or finale, for any adventure!
Saesori Earl Grey Blonde (4.7% ABV)
White Crow’s Award Winning Blonde Ale—additions of earl grey tea and dry hopping make this beer shine with a bright citrus tea character. Refreshing and easily crushable.
Cool Buck Buckwheat Lager (4.7% ABV)
Cool Buck is a lager made with buckwheat locally produced in Pyeongchang. Light and refreshing.
And that’s not all! The brewers from White Crow will be down to talk with all of you beer nerds, and once again, we’ll be putting on the 1L Chugging Challenge for some truly lovely and heroic 1L Glass Mugs.
On Friday night, we’ll be starting at 9:00 as an after party for the Busan Craft Beer Fest. And on Saturday, we’ll be opening early at 3:00 for a Busan Craft Beer Fest Pre-Party!!! Should be a great afternoon of day (and night) drinking, so hope to see you all here!

If you never had an HQ Philly before, you've been missing out--it was easily our most popular sandwich before we made the switch to pizza, and we have people ask about it all the time. A fresh toasted hoagie absolutely stuffed with thin grilled skirt steak, sauteed onions/peppers/jalapenos, and gooey mozzarella cheese--yes, we skip the Cheez Whiz, but trust us when we say the mozzarella works great.
We'll only have 30 of these available, and we open at 12:30 sharp on Sunday, so hope you can get in to get a sammich!

This Tuesday at HQ, our friend Alienor is going to screen her short film “The Audition” that she shot at HQ a few months ago. It’s something she’s worked real hard on and it debuted at the Busan Cinema Center a few weeks ago, so we’re real excited to finally get to watch it.

This Saturday, June 22nd, HQ is incredibly excited to be hosting Michelle Winthrop, the Irish ambassador to Korea, and representatives from the Irish embassy, so we’re going to be throwing a party for the ages.
We’ll be doing a private meet and greet from 5:00-7:00–if you’re one of the many Irish citizens living in Korea, you’re welcome to come join us. Just send a message and we’ll get you on the list.
At 7:00, the bar will be open to the public for a huge party. We’ll have two full sets of live Irish music starting at 8:00 from Busan’s hardest working players, The Rice Paddies, featuring Gino O’Bravo, Chris Tharp, and Conor Doran on bass/guitar/bouzouki, Patrick Carle on the fiddle, and Ben May and Jarrod Biesmann on drums. They’ve got a bunch of brand new tunes ready to go—if you haven’t caught them before, they’re outrageous fun.

The electropop duo Fat Hamster and KANG New have become one of the hottest live acts in Seoul (and elsewhere—they recently played shows in Japan and Thailand) over the last year, with a charisma that is absolutely overflowing with energy. In fact, they were listed as one of the “10 Korean Indie Acts You Should See in 2024” in the Korea Times, so here’s your chance.
GOTHS ON THE BEACH
Combining the exhilarating joys of surf rock with the exhilarating joys of being a goth, Goths on the Beach combines surf and goth in a way that will have you saying “I thought this was maybe going to suck but it’s actually really good!” Bring your dance moves and dancing shoes.
Music starts at 10:00 sharp, and there’s a 5000 Won cover for the show. 100% of that money goes to the bands to help cover things like travel costs, practice space costs, and just for being super-talented and performing for you! This one should be great, so hope to see you here!!!
