Audiences have taken this pledge with us at venues and festivals around the UK, at the Royal Albert Hall, on the radio, and even in New York (with substitutions for pram/stroller Conservative/Republican). We're also pretty sure it once won us a Battle of the Bands competition ✊

“Radical kitchenpunk legends I, Doris have teamed with anarchopop icon Dunstan Bruce of Chumbawumba and Interrobang to spread the mummycore gospel in their latest track, ‘Not Done Yet.‘ Mellifluous harmonies weave through retro synths as Bruce’s Herculean voice chants, “I’ve still got fire in my belly, rage in my heart, it’s just my knees are getting weaker and I’m scared of the dark.”
I, Doris sing with the skill of The Shangri-Las on snakebite, with chewing-gum charm over a bed of grimy Riot Grrrl guitars, driving percussion and stylish angular keys. “Can you hear me? Can See me? Can you feel me? Yea. I’m just getting started. Flip me over coz I’m not done yet,” they sing, mocking the idea that people become invisible as they age.
Is there anything more more punk than refusing to give in to aging clichés? It’s whip smart, searingly witty and sparkling with verve. The hook-laden harmonies will ripple in the subconscious long after you’ve finished listening. It’s an earworm and a half and video is an indie dream.”

When the gig was announced I was already chuffed I’d be seeing 14 Iced Bears for first time in decades and Milky Wimpshake for the first time but was then told I, Doris would be opening the night and they did and of course were fantastic. Firstly we took the I, Doris pledge and never did it seem more important than the one to not vote Conservative! then onto the music mixing punk and pop and updated some classics such as Up The Junction with their Girl From Clapham and some fun as well as serious topics such as masturbation. As an added bonus Dunstan Bruce was able to join them onstage for their latest release Not Done Yet which was great to see, well after sorting out which microphone to use! He almost used 2 which prompted the question who used 2 mics at Live Aid which the drummer said The Fall! It later turned out that Kim Deal used 2 with The Breeders later that evening! but what a wonderful start to the day this was.”
