Er gewährt uns Einblick in sein musikalisches Schaffen, das geprägt ist vom Moment der Stille, vom Miteinander und von der Inspirationskraft der Limmatstadt.

Energiegeladen, charismatisch und engagiert: Esa Williams alias ESA hat sich eine einzigartige und weitreichende musikalische Identität geschaffen. Der in London lebende Südafrikaner schöpft aus seinen kulturellen Wurzeln, um einen Sound ohne Grenzen zu verkörpern. Seine aktuellen und bisherigen Aktivitäten unterstreichen dies. So gehören Engagements für auf elektronische Musik fokussierte Bildungsprogramme in Ost- und Südafrika, Brasilien und Kuba ebenso zu seinem Schaffen, wie auch das Betreiben seines Labels ‘Rememory Music’ und die monatliche Sendung auf Gilles Petersons ‘Worldwide FM’. ESA teilt seit jeher sein Wissen und sieht darin die treibende Kraft einer zukunftsträchtigen Szene. Ein Artist, der mit seiner fröhlichen und ansteckenden Energie das Facettenreichtum der Musik auf eine neue Ebene bringt – sei es auf oder neben dem Dancefloor. Die Vielfalt einer HEKAYA-Nacht verkörpern an der Seite von ESA zudem Labelgründer KAYYAK und Tricky Ricky. Dynamisch und verspielt bewegen sie sich mit Groove und Soul durch ihre breite und einfallsreiche Selection.
In der Bar3000 vereint Kucina Bomba Klänge aus aller Welt zu einem spektakulären grossen Ganzen. Ganz im Sinne einer HEKAYA-Nacht zeigen World-Sounds die grenzenlose Schönheit der Musik auf.

Manufactured in Portugal, Born and raised in the Deep South of Johannesburg, now living in our beloved city of Zurich, Switzerland. A big supporter of the culture and the scene. Someone who has been there with us since our first HEKAYA event. We are super happy to have him come and share his good vibes and good music with you. What is extra special for this night, is that it marks the 20th anniversary of friendship between the two brothers Ricky and ESA. Ricky is therefore the perfect choice for this night. We are looking forward to a deep journey with South African and African Music and more. See you this Saturday, hopefully!

The South African, based in London, draws from his cultural roots to embody a boundless sound. His current and past activities underscore this. His work includes engagements for electronic music-focused educational programs in East and South Africa, Brazil, and Cuba, as well as running his label ‘Rememory Music’ and his monthly show on Gilles Peterson’s ‘Worldwide FM’. ESA has always shared his knowledge and sees it as the driving force of a forward-looking scene. An artist who, with his cheerful and infectious energy, brings the richness of music to a new level - whether on or off the dance floor.
