“선/사각” 크누스트 프레스와 까만개 온라인 샵(프로필 링크)에서 구매할 수 있습니다. 오프라인에서는 더북소사이어티에서 직접 보고 구매할 수 있습니다. “선/사각”은 2022년 한국에서 처음 출판했다. 그 후 크누스트 프레스에서 리소로 다시 인쇄하면서 황은영은 크누스트 프레스의 얀 디르크가 그의 책 <WIG>를 만들며 개발한 쐐기 제본을 이 책에 사용하기로 했다. 황은영과 얀 디르크는 이 책을 만들며 각각 콘텐츠와 제본으로 협업했고, 크누스트 프레스의 조이스의 아이디어로 원래 종이였던 쐐기를 이 책에 맞게 나무로 제작했다. 이 책에서 황은영은 나무로 만들어진 종이 위에 나무 이미지를 잉크로 그려서 오려 붙였고, 그것을 다시 종이 위에 잉크로 인쇄했으며, 실제 나무로 제본했다. 그래서 이 책에는 실제 나무와 그려진 나무들의 관계가 얽혀 있고, 그 과정에서 선과 색과 형태를 놀듯이 배열했다. 책 출간과 더불어 네덜란드 엑스트라 풀에서 황은영은 직접 만든 나무 구조물들을 인쇄된 책과 페이지들과 함께 놓고 쌓고 결합한 설치 작업을 선보였다. 전시는 5월 말에 진행되었고, 6월 마지막 주에 다시 한번 더 열릴 예정이다. 멋진 인쇄와 제본 아이디어, 그리고 늘 즐거운 영감을 주는 크누스트 프레스와 얀 디르크에게 감사합니다. 사진 Astrid Florentinus 《Line/Rectangle》is now available at the online shops of Knustpress and Kkamanke(Korea). Link in bio. 《Line/Rectangle》was first published in Korea in 2022. Later, it was reprinted in Riso at Knust Press. This time, Hwang Eunyoung collaborated with Jan Dirk de Wilde, the founder of Knust Press, on the binding he designed for his book 《WIG》. In this book, the original paper wedge was replaced with wood based on Joyce’s idea of Knust Press. Hwang Eunyoung enjoys playfully colors, forms, and lines of wood in the images. At the same time, she explores the connection between materials such as wood, paper, and ink. In other words, Eunyoung drew, and arranged images of wood with ink on paper made from trees, then printed them on paper with ink, using a real wood wedge for the binding. Along with the book launch, there was an exhibition at the end of May and will be again at the end of June at Extrapool in Nijmegen in the Netherlands, showcasing wooden objects, interventions of wood structures(some of which are inspired by Jan Dirk’s binding structure), papers, and books created by Hwang Eunyoung over several months. 얼마 전 제가 가지고 있던 마지막 ‘We Can’t Surf’ 책을 한국으로 돌아와 산타바바라 해변을 그리워하는 지혜 님께 보냈습니다. 2018년 크누스트 프레스에서 이 책을 인쇄하던 때, 책을 만드는 동안 늘 곁에 있던 제 강아지, 그리고 마치 파도 소리 같이 창문 너머로 들려오던 스케이트 보드 타는 소리, 내내 들었던 서프 음악을 기억하며. 마지막 책 몇 권이 뉴욕 프린티드 매터 @printedmatterinc , 도쿄 포포탐 서점@popotame_shop 에 아직 있네요. Recently, I sent the final copy of my book ‘We Can’t Surf’ to a reader who had returned to Korea from Santa Barbara beach and misses it a lot. It brought back memories of the days when I stayed at Knustpress in April 2018, where I printed this book—such good people, such good memories. I also remembered MY DOG, who was always by my side as I worked on this book, and the sound of skateboarders outside my window, which was reminiscent of sound of beach waves, along with the surf music that played endlessly IN MY ROOM. I found that there are still some last copies available at Printed Matter @printedmatterinc in NY and Popotame @popotame_shop in Tokyo.

Action Pointing, Marker pen on A4 paper, Hwang Eunyoung, 2024 A4xX프로젝트는 특정 소수만을 위한 예술과 예술 유통에 의문을 갖는 Christine Demias @appelez_moi_chris 의 프로젝트로, 여러 아티스트들의 A4크기 작업을 무료로 배포하고 있습니다. 저는 이 프로젝트에 A4 용지에 마커펜을 던져 만든 ’Action Pointing’으로 참여했습니다. 제 작업은 A4Xx프로젝트 웹 사이트 www.a4multiplieparx.site 에서 다른 모든 아티스트들의 작업과 함께 다운로드해 출력하거나, 또는 5월 17,18,19 일 파리 팔레 드 도쿄 @palaisdetokyo 에서 열리는 Paris Ass Book Fair @parisassbookfair 현장에서 직접 출력할 수 있습니다. I participated in the A4xX project by Christine Demias. This project rejects the idea of art as spectacle and object fetishization, and the dominance of celebrity and finance in the art world. It takes the form of A4, Black and White, an unlimited collective work. My piece, “Action Pointing,” shows an image made by throwing a marker pen on A4 paper. You can print my work, along with all the wonderful artists’ works, directly from the website or at the Paris Ass Book Fair @parisassbookfair on May 17, 18, and 19 at Palais de Tokyo @palaisdetokyo in Paris. 『 탁자 위에 달걀이 있다 』, 2018. 몇몇 분들은 아시겠지만, 사실 이 책은 조르주 페렉의 《tentative de description 》을 우연히 듣고 난 후, 왜인지는 모르겠지만 일주일 만에 재미있게 만들었던 책입니다. 《tentative de description 》는 페렉이 길에 서서 지나가는 사람들을 계속해서 말로 묘사하는 것을 녹음한 것입니다. Pages from my book ‘There is an Egg on a Table,’ published in 2018, featuring different drawings from a single sentence. I don’t know why, but I created this book in about one week, shortly after hearing a recording of Georges Perec's 《tentative de description》in 1978 on the radio by chance. I had a lot of fun and felt it was almost like an improvisation.
