This is Dr Alia Crum, tenured Professor of Psychology @stanford (and licensed clinical psychologist and former Division 1 athlete). Her lab studies mindsets and how they impact our health and performance.

Here Alia explains to @hubermanlab what scientific studies in her lab have shown again and again: that if we adopt a specific mindset about stress that it truly can enhance our health and performance, not diminish it.

Dr Crum’s lab has studied the effects of specific mindsets on food-related hormone signals, how exercise can create greater health benefits, and how adopting the right mindset about stress can allow our hormones, cognition and athletic performance to benefit, not suffer from stress.

Note: Her lab has studied people of many ages, men and women, Navy SEALs, students and people of all walks for life.
