We’re thrilled to share the screenprint artwork created by artist Pavel Acevedo for this Sunday’s Watermelon Run for Peace. Pavel will be live printing this image on posters at the event. Pavel shared this statement about his art: “This is an image honoring resistance and collaboration between species to survive annihilation at any means necessary. Being in favor of Palestine is being in favor of life and freedom and the natural order. No one should be cut from it. Learning from and witnessing this genocide only shows how corrupted the system is and we only have our community to support each other.”
We have a 5k route for runners and will also have a shorter walking route, although you don’t need to walk or run to join us! As usual, all paces, faces, and abilities are welcome. We’ll plan to meet up at 10:30 and walk/run start is at 11.

Meet up at 10:30am @espacio1839 , take off for walk/run will be at 11am. We’ll return to @espacio1839 for a raffle of four stunning Palestinian flag jackets handmade by @cosiendo.amor and to connect with other community members calling for a free Palestine and an end to Israel’s genocide and occupation.
Artist @pavel_acevedo will be live printing posters with original artwork for attendees to take on a first come first served basis from 11am-1pm.
We’ll then walk over to @eldistrito14 for lunch, they will be donating a percentage of sales to our fundraiser.

Last Saturday we ran & walked in solidarity for a free Palestine. We were hosted by @anwarskitchenla and we even met our fundraising goal of $500 to @thepcrf ! On our route we were blessed to cross paths with @shg1970 & @joan_zeta who was giving out silkscreened ceasefire 🍉. Please help support the cause in any way you can and a reminder to keep on spreading love, it is needed.

Last week was difficult… felt like I was losing my mind… Everytime I open my IG, I am hit with some sort of new atrocity committed against my people or hit with plans for atrocities that are yet to come… It’s just really draining to see it day after day after day for 5 months… with no end in sight.
Luckily- my mental crisis was aborted, at least temporarily, when I saw this crew of beautiful people on Saturday morning. So grateful for this run/walk community of ours that stands in solidarity with the Palestinians, calls for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the occupation, and a free Palestine! 🙏🏼
