OUR STORY: We’re on a mission to end the ocean plastic crisis.
➡️ Alex Schulze and Andrew Cooper were inspired to create 4ocean after taking a surf trip to Bali, Indonesia, in 2015. While they had grown up in Florida and made their living from the ocean, Bali is where they truly began to understand the severity of the ocean plastic crisis and its impact not just on marine life, but on the coastal communities that, like them, relied on the health of the ocean to survive.
➡️ After speaking with local fishermen whose livelihoods were negatively impacted by plastic pollution, Alex and Andrew decided to build a company that would hire boat captains and fishermen in communities heavily impacted by plastic pollution as full-time, professional cleanup crew members to recover plastic and other harmful debris from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines seven days a week.
➡️ Since the very beginning, our co-founders envisioned a business model where the materials 4ocean crews recovered from the ocean would be used to develop new and innovative products that raise awareness about the ocean plastic crisis, fund a global ocean cleanup operation, and empower individuals around the world to end their reliance on single-use plastic.
What if we told you this was what Guatemala’s coastlines look like right now…
During the rainy season, millions of pounds of plastic waste washes on the shores of Guatemala after traveling down the Rio Motagua, one of the most polluted rivers in the world.
Next week, the 4ocean Operations Team will be traveling to visit our Guatemala cleanup facility. For the past 2 years, we've been mobilizing our local cleanup crew to tackle plastic pollution on Guatemala's beaches. Now, we're looking to stop the trash upstream before it can ever reach the ocean. Stay tuned for upcoming developments on this complex mission.

4ocean Crew Goes Surfing 🏄♂️🤟
Our captains and crews around the globe work tirelessly to protect our oceans. Today, they had the opportunity to enjoy the very waters they have dedicated themselves to preserving. 💙
They woke up bright and early and were greeted by local instructors who taught them how to paddle and pop up onto the boards. Throw in a little bit of pre-surf stretching and they were ready to tackle some waves. 🌊
They spent the entire day surfing under the Bali sunshine, laughing and creating unforgettable memories. It was a well-deserved day of relaxation and fun for our hardworking ocean warriors, reminding us why their work is so vital. ☀️
