Gibellula is a genus of parasitic fungi which attacks arachnids. 🕷️ If you came to @allthingsfungifestival last year you probably had the pleasure of witnessing this species found by @damontighe It was my number 1/2 discovery from last year’s festival. I can’t wait to experience the results of what so many eyes can find at this years festival :) That specimen made its way to @kewgardens to be sequenced by Sandro @aaagorini as part of the Darwins Tree of Life project. Hopefully, we’ll have more info on that in due course. The species pictured here was found in Lucmabamba, Peru. 🇵🇪 #allthingsfungi

We are pleased to say that @itslucid.world will be joining our festival, offering their tasty snacks. Yum! Full of Function Full of potent properties but without psychoactive effects, functional mushrooms like lion’s mane and reishi are a form of adaptogen, also known as ‘nature’s superheroes.’

Our brain-boosting fungi, lion’s mane, supports cognitive function and sharpens focus. Reishi, the ‘immortal mushroom,’ enhances immunity and infuses tranquility into life’s chaos.

Alongside our functional mushrooms, ashwagandha and maca step onto the stage. Ashwagandha, our graceful guardian, gently supports stress management*, while maca, nature’s spirited spark, uplifts vitality. #itslucid #vegansnacks #adaptogenicmushrooms

Alex is a Curator-Mycologist in the Fungarium at Kew. She has her MSc in Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, where her thesis focused on lichens. She enjoys learning about fungal diversity, and particularly small fungi such as bird’s nests and discomycetes. Alex’s talk will focus on how a reference collection works, the sort of research that is done in a Fungarium, and how you can collect and store your own fungal specimens. We are thrilled to have Alex discussing Kew’s Fungarium! #kewfungarium #allthingsfungifestival #fungifestival #florafaunafunga
