Knit garment made by me with black wool, various surgical metalwork plates, corroded bolts and washers, silver thread and sequins.
Photographed using various light sources and experimental techniques in my studio.
The artwork is a physical representation of the hurt during my recovery from fractures in the clavicle and chest. It is currently on display at the British Upper Limb Surgeons Conference in Edinburgh. Thanks to Acumed UK for their kind support in facilitating this project
In Maltese they say that out of the bad comes the good. It was interesting to illustrate pain, loss of function and restriction of movement.
I hope it will be a talking point with the surgeons 🌷. #britishelbowandshouldersociety#fractureclavicle#acumeduk#orthopaedics#surgery#clavplate#hookplate#fracturedribs#bess

Who are we?
What are we?
What do we appear to others?
My accident has really made me think a lot about what it means to be human, to feel human, and our relationship with ourselves. A new body of work is developing and I’m on the hunt for a curator to support my new venture.
If you’re interested do reach out. Let’s talk ideas. I have many 😊
This artwork is totally incamera work. There is no photoshop other than simple curve adjustments and definitely nothing coming out of an AI application - that is not what I do. I love experimentation and creative professionals who trust my vision when I want to go sideways. Much love to @cat_mannarino_makeup for this wonderful collaboration ♥️♥️♥️

This one is from a long time ago
It just feels right for these messed up times and my own current state of mind
“Spirits of the underworld” Hawes Green, Norwich 2009
A bit late perhaps, but not totally.
La Dame Perdue was selected and exhibited in Malta recently in an exhibition as part of @repubblika.mt events to commemorate #daphnecaruanagalizia’s 6th anniversary of assassination
The artwork has been donated to @theshiftnews and will be part of their upcoming art exhibition and auction to raise funds for their sterling work.
From a young age I was fascinated by the bravery of journalists digging for the truth in the face of danger. From war correspondents to photojournalists who brought harrowing images of war, suffering and truths well hidden.
We watched Italian TV with reports of mafia killings almost every day. Footage that wouldn’t be shown in this day and age lit our tv’s.
Man can be very cruel indeed.
My personal motivation for this image years ago was an intense sadness and homesickness that still comes back occasionally.
Inspired by a recurring dream of mine in Valletta, where this noblewoman tries to connect with people who struggle, but her standing wouldn’t allow this, so she comes out at night with a lamp, money and kindness.
More soon…
I love the is image a lot, but sadly it never got published.
When you’re working with a great editor you’re in a conversation with them about what makes it into the mag or not.
This was one of these shoots.
As the day progressed I wanted a different kind of energy with the girls so we got this guy in the shot. He was a friend of someone there.
As predicted the energy changed and we achieved this strong shot with multiple triangulation.
The editor didn’t feel the image sat well with the rest of the set but on its own, I feel it’s a really strong image.
Why are perfect girls always fighting over imperfect boys anyway?
🙄😉
