Franca Sozzani, the longtime legendary former Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Italia was born on January 20th, 1950, in Mantua, Italy. She graduated in Germanic languages, Literature & Philosophy even though she initially wanted to study Physics. Starting her career as an assistant at the children's fashion magazine Vogue Bambini in 1976, she became the editor of Vogue Italia in 1988, heading the magazine for 28 years. Over the course of her career, she championed new talent and collaborated with some of the greatest photographers like Steven Meisel and Peter Lindbergh. It was also no secret that Sozzani recognized how important diversity was. We were made aware of this in 2008, when her publication released their limited edition 'Black Issue', with not only stunning visual content but also discussions about diversity within the fashion industry sparking conversations about racism and other social issues we still face today. Her passion always showed through her work and her personal life. She leaves behind a long-lasting legacy that is unparalleled with several admirable humanitarian endeavors.
.
In the honor of his friends and long time collaborators (Franca Sozzani and Peter Lindbergh), creative director Fabien Baron launched a very special limited edition Zaratribute collection with 100% of the proceeds going to The Franca Sozzani Fund for Preventive Genomics which supports work on preventive genomics and the Global BabySeq Project, focused on accelerating preventive medicine and addressing racial disparities within the field of genomics.
