1988 - I’d just returned from a job in Europe and my agent @chrisforberg suggested I go to a request audition somewhere uptown-it was already the evening. I hopped on my bike and cycled from my place in the east village. Walking into this unknown room, I met the director and a few of the casting/camera crew. I also met the girl, a beautiful blonde lady I hadn’t come across before. The director asked two simple questions, can you ride a horse and can you kiss a girl?! Of course I said yes, especially to the second ask, that part of my response was delivered with mock belligerence, spiced with youthful swagger. Since they didn’t have a horse in the tiny studio, I went full on into the kiss. I’d never ridden a horse. I got the job. My first scene on film was set on the small concrete triangular sidewalk, that sat at the apex, in front of the Flatiron building. This was long before that area was extended for pedestrians. At this time it was no longer than 20 feet. It was a Friday, dusk, and the traffic was bustling in true NY fashion-cars, trucks, bikes, buses all headed south, conjoining from 5th Avenue and Broadway. My first action was to rear the horse onto its hind legs, all this whilst the traffic and two smoke guns blasted at full throttle. Well okay then! I’d heard along the line that if a horse senses your fear then it will let you know, either by refusing your command or pushing back against it-beast v beast. I spoke to the hired ‘horse people’ from Montana and they assured me that this horse was very well trained and to just relax. And so I did. And we did two perfect takes and it was done. Thence followed an extraordinary 21 day/night journey across all the western states. The idea for the commercial was that I was the cowboy following the girl-or was the girl following the cowboy? The girl crossed country on her Harley. I bed in with my new Montana friends as their company and kindness was what I preferred. Whenever I could, I rode the bike, a low softale heritage, and I became more and more confident riding my 17 hand mount- at one point, I was at the top of a hill, in snowy Colorado, and had to race down and alongside a … continued below in comments

We laid our pal @kurtmarkus_ to rest today, 2 years to the day he passed. It was the most beautiful funeral I’ve ever attended - he was surrounded by family and great friends - cowboys travelled from all over the States to pay their respects and share stories and songs - it was a helluva send off - this as I left, 8.45pm.

So enjoyable to finally have a good conversation, to ‘interview’ & photograph an actor of immense talent, whom I’ve been a fan of for as long as he’s been working. Like in every role he’s played @alessandro.nivola didn’t disappoint. Playing rascal Gavin Harris in the GOAL movies when our boys were wee bairns, Alessandro gave the character a charm that made us laugh and won our hearts. As Billy in Jurassic Park 3, he made such an impact that we bought our younger son a ‘Billy’ doll, which became his comfort toy! Since then his career has continued to soar. Whether treading the boards or on film, he possesses the chops that make us forget who the man is, so immersed are we in believing the character he’s portraying - watch him staring in the leading role as Dickie Moltisanti in @newarkmovie I reckon he’ll go down as one of the greats - an actor’s actor, the consummate performer - presently he has too many upcoming roles to list here but watch him now in @appletv THE BIG CIGAR, or in December playing the villain ‘The Rhino’ in @sonypictures @marvel @kraventhemovie - or look out for him in the new @downtonabbey_official - he’s everywhere, deservingly so… As ever, thanks to our @mrfeelgoodhq team of creatives, 📷 by the inimitably talented @guyaroch - styling by @alfonsofn - grooming by @rheannewhite - creative by @edmondalison - Special thanks to generous pal, bespoke tailor @stephenseonyc & our mutual dear pal @todlingtonian 😘 Alessandro wears @giorgioarmani on our cover - Wishing all a happy weekend ❤️

@eddiemmarsan One of my very favorite actors - and as our London @mrfeelgoodhq crew all said - one of the nicest men - warm, playful and oh so talented. Hope you enjoy my MRF Co-Founder @petesamson interview with Eddie about playing Mitch Winehouse #amywinehouse father in @samtaylorjohnson biopic @backtoblackfilm which I absolutely loved and ignited quite the debate - hear what Eddie’s take on this is having spent time with Mitch and having sought the council of trusted friends who knew what was going on at that time. Interestingly enough, Pete, as a young journalist was also party to the scene during those wild days .. massive thanks as ever to @hbsauce14 for the portraits to @navyboy4016 and to @gregorynchapman for styling and making it happen. Enjoy.. Above, Eddie wears @markpowellbespoke
