A wedding is one of the most important days in your life and it usually happens during the busiest period of your life. The most important thing we say to all of our brides is, enjoy it. Do not get caught up in the minor details, enjoy every second of it. As some of you may know, my mum, Samantha, started MD with her mum 33 years ago. When I came into the business, I never thought that she would not be there to see me get married. My whole life has been leading up to my wedding, how many dresses will I have, what will I wear. Unfortunately I lost my mum 2 months before my wedding and it didn’t feel right to go ahead with the original plans. We scaled down the plans and in a month organised the best wedding we could have hoped for. We focused on the most important things… the dress and the party! We immediately chose Lewis Membery and Paul Van (thankfully) but on some other suppliers we were less decisive and delaying decision making can give you space to think but also may mean you aren’t progressing the planning as much. It’s important to remember that this is your day and you only get one. If you’ve both always dreamt of a destination wedding, don’t let go of that dream, even if it means making hard choices about guest numbers and having to accept that some people won’t want to make the journey. The ones who do are people who really love you and want to be there, and that only enhances the atmosphere.
