There is always something special in following the process of fine art printing. Print master Luigi Fedullo @fineartlab printed this 2 meters x 1,30 meters photograph that I took on May 6th, 2023 in Naples on @hahnemuehle_global photo rag baryta. Thank you Luigi, once again for being the best. Pics by @anouk_diary . • • #fineartphotography #hahnemuhle #photoragbaryta #stampafineart #photography #napoli #maradona #naples #sangennaro

Peperoncino Festival celebrates every year the passion for hot chili peppers in Diamante in the Southern Italian region of Calabria. It’s still a mystery to me how one person was able to eat almost a kilo of the spiciest chili peppers. Shot on assignment for @konfektmagazine . This morning the Civil Protection simulated an emergency scenario in Pozzuoli, the epicenter of the caldera of the Campi Flegrei. The response of the local population was very low. No more than 10 people showed up (in the last picture only members of the Civil Protection and Police are sitting under the structure that was supposed to be used by those who should have taken part to the simulation). It also needs to be highlighted the fact that the communication made by the local authorities and the Civil Protection to the local population was very poor. Many of them said that the online procedure to register to take part to the simulation was complicated to fill. Daily life went on as normal and people like Giuseppe (first photograph) said that he has been living with bradyseism for decades and he prefers to concentrate on keep removing rocks from the sea floor so he can continue his business of renting beach loungers. Emergency simulations were scheduled even before the seismic swarm of May 20, 2023 that registered the most intense earthquake of the last 40 years. #campiflegrei #bradisismo #earthquake #pozzuoli #volcanoes #supervolcano #photojournalism #reportagespotlight #documentaryphotography #reportage #fujix100vi #fujifilm #fujifilm _xseries #naples #vulcano

The surreal atmosphere and beauty of the Calanchi (gullies) in Basilicata region in Southern Italy. Calanchi are a type of badland landform characterized by steep, heavily eroded hillsides. These features are typically found in areas with clay-rich soils and are shaped by the action of water erosion. Carlo Levi wrote about the calanchi in his book “Christ Stopped at Eboli” in a very evocative and detailed way emphasizing both their physical characteristics and symbolic significance. Levi describes the calanchi as deep ravines and steep, barren cliffs formed by rainwater erosion in the clay-rich soil. “They are the product of the continual erosion of the clay soil, which, with the rain and the torrents, splits into deep gorges, leaving in between narrow spines, knife-edged ridges and clusters of sharp peaks like the ruins of castles.” Levi uses the calanchi to symbolize the harshness and desolation of the Lucanian landscape and the difficult lives of its inhabitants. • • #calanchi #documentaryphotography #reportagespotlight #fujifilmx100vi #fujifilm #basilicata #southernitaly #italy #uncommontravel

Two days ago Naples lost one of its most iconic craftsmen: Mario Talarico. In his workshop in the Quartieri Spagnoli Mario created the most beautiful umbrellas. His legacy continues through the work of his grandson Mario that inherited the crafting techniques that haven’t changed since 1860, the year Talarico Ombrelli was founded. • • #napoli #quartierispagnoli #talarico #madeinitaly #handmade #naples #umbrella #artigianatonapoletano

Naples is also the city where you can find dressed and lightly tanned people not always sunbathing on the city’s waterfront eating pasta omelettes.

Since 19:51 local time on 20 May 2024 (UTC 17:51) a #seismic swarm has been underway in the #campiflegrei area which, until 00:31 local time on 21 May 2024, has preliminarily recorded around 150 #earthquakes with duration Magnitude and a maximum Magnitude of 4.4. The Md 4.4 event was the most energetic among those recorded since the beginning of the current bradyseismic crisis that began in 2005. The #epicenter is located inside the #solfatara at a depth of 2.6 km. At present there is no increase in the lifting speed which is currently 2 cm/month. Still at the current state, there are no changes in the trend in horizontal deformations or local deformations of the ground different from the previous trend. It should be remembered that during the bradyseismic crisis of 1982-84 the ground lifting reached 9 cm per month, and even 1300 seismic events per month were exceeded. Currently, however, approximately 450 events with Md≥0.0 have been recorded in the last month. The geochemical parameters measured with the continuous stations (Temperature and carbon dioxide flows) do not show significant variations compared to the trends of recent months, other than the well-known increase in temperature and pressure that characterizes the hydrothermal system. Seismicity is not a predictable phenomenon, therefore it cannot be excluded that other seismic events may occur, even of similar energy to what has already been recorded during the current swarm.
