Autumn is all about layering and giving new life to old wardrobe staples, so we are delighted to be supporting the launch of @uniqloeurope ’s FW23 Modern Layering. This celebrates the idea of clothing longevity and the joy of re-wearing the pieces you love. Layer up new looks, be playful with colours and textures, and by incorporating elements you already have, give them a new lease of life. UNIQLO has long embraced sustainability, using RDS (Responsible Down Standard), down and feathers, and opening Re UNIQLO Studio, in London and Manchester, to repair your worn-out UNIQLO favourites, so helping to keep more UNIQLO fashion in circulation. They work with UNHCR and Goods for Good to distribute used clothing for disaster victims and refugees and create new garments from unwearable items. Joining us in this special collaboration are seven creatives, well known for their sense of fashion, who chose their own UNIQLO items to be styled by Calendar’s Founder @a_m_c and Editor-at-Large @chaywardstyle with looks from the upcoming FW23 Modern Layering product, in a celebration of fashion longevity. They are: @teovandenbroeke is Editorial Director at Soho House and author of men’s fashion/coming-of-age memoir, The Closet, published in September. Alyson Walsh is a former magazine editor and the founder of @thatsnotmyage , a website championing fashion for women of all ages, and Sophie Sellu hand-crafts beautiful, sustainable wooden utensils from ‘storm-fallen’ and reclaimed timber to sell on her website @grainandknot . @aaronchristian_ is a film director and producer at AC Studios, and his partner @iman_alem is a Senior Fashion Market Editor. @herbiemensahlondon sells and upcycles vintage clothing and textiles; and @wordsbymorgane is the Fashion & Beauty Writer of The Calendar Magazine. Join us in unlocking the power of clothing. #ModernLayering #LifeWear Photography: @ed_bourmier Styling @a_m_c and @chaywardstyle Make-up @lizdaxauer Hair @knightjosh Styling Assistant: Sophie Saunders Photography Assistant: Luke Stulinski, @hayleignlongman Production @rachaelevans @block_productions26

At Calendar, we are all about championing anyone who is making a positive change, whether an established global brand, a quirky start-up or just an individual with a passion. Nike has long been making significant strides on the sustainability front, and its Move to Zero campaign was born from the brand’s mission to slash its carbon footprint and ultimately achieve both zero carbon and zero waste. Determined to continue to ‘create solutions, not wait for them’, the brand developed Nike Forward apparel, its most sustainable collection to date, which racks up only 75% of the carbon footprint of traditional fleece fabric. In our first creative collaboration with Nike, we have chosen three eco trailblazers to help showcase our celebration of sustainable fashion in a specially commissioned shoot. First up, designer Tega Akinola has rapidly won a cult Insta following for upcycling faulty USB cables and pre-loved street and sportswear pieces (including those by Nike), into ’90s-inspired mini bags and shoes. One of Forbes’ ‘30 Under 30’, Georgie Hyatt is co-founder and CEO of Rotaro, one of the leading fashion rental platforms for luxury brands, which helped spearhead the current circular economy boom. Creative director, stylist and front-row regular Katie Ruensumran (better known as @katieismonster ) launched her label The Meaning Well in the first lockdown. Her clothes are all designed to be timeless, with no seasonal collections, and one-size-fits-all. Styled by our founder, Anne-Marie Curtis, and modelled by Tega, Katie and Georgie, the shoot is a curated mix of some of our favourite pre-loved, rental and sustainably focused brands. Look out for our video footage from the shoot and interviews with Tega, Georgie and Katie to hear about what inspires them and the change they are making in this space. Shop well – and be part of the change we all want to see in fashion. As the mercury climbs, all we can think of is a cooling dip in clear water. But instead of squeezing on to the usual packed summer beaches, seek out a peaceful loch, lake, river or remote island for some quality waterfront downtime. Dries Van Noten's final show, held in Paris on Saturday night at a former factory in La Courneuve, was both a celebration and a beautiful farewell to one of fashion's true masters. During his almost 40 years at the helm of his eponymous brand, the designer's breathtaking creativity, singular vision, artistry and authenticity are a virtuoso lesson in what fashion at its very best can and should be: clothes with soul and beauty, to wear and cherish forever. We salute you, Mr Van Noten, and thank you for all the joy and magic you have given us over the years. #BeInTheNow #FashionTheFuture @driesvannoten Video via @juliegilhart

It’s finally summer when natural, barely-there make-up and lighter beauty formulas come out to play. Think sun-kissed bronze, nourishing hair essentials, and of course, SPF. From organic sunscreens to refillable lipsticks and plastic-free soap bars, discover our editor’s picks of the beauty essentials with all the sustainable credentials to master that long awaited summer glow, responsibly. “The perfect refillable lipstick with luxury credentials by Hermès in a soft rose shade for balmy summer nights – what’s not to love?!” Anne-Marie Curtis, Founder and Editor-in-Chief “The HOP range by the amazing Spanish hair brand Montibello is a summer saviour. I’m not interested in blow-drying my hair in the summer months, I just want great products that restore hair health, so I can comb through and leave my hair in finger waves. And did I mention, I love the peachy packaging – made with 100 % recycled plastic.” Sarah Bailey, Associate Editor “Whatever the season, nothing beats the simplicity of a bar of soap. This jumbo version from Haeckels is impregnated with raw, crushed coriander seeds, peppercorns, aloe vera, tea tree and hand harvested seaweed from Margate that gently exfoliates as you scrub and can be cut up into satisfyingly small chunks for ease – which last for ages. It’s green, clean living at its best!” Catherine Hayward, Editor-at-Large Head to the link in bio to read more ➡️ Cover picture @janwelters_official #BeInTheNow #FashionTheFuture

It’s a sun-dappled morning in Studio City, Los Angeles, and the model, activist and sustainability ambassador for Karl Lagerfeld is at her desk, speaking to me over a video call. She’s wearing a simple black T-shirt, and chunky 1960s Peter Sellers reading glasses (that she lifts on and off for emphasis).  Meanwhile, her little dog Mila, is doing her best to join the conversation. Right now, we are talking about the latest Karl Lagerfeld x Amber Valletta collaboration – a capsule collection of crossbody and tote bags, in sleek modern silhouettes, made from Mirum, a plant-based, plastic-free leather alternative made from responsibly sourced rubber and natural oils. “I mean it’s incredible,” says Valletta. “It’s fossil fuel free, it’s made here in the U.S… it’s completely recyclable into ‘new’ Mirum. And it’s just beautiful. When I received the samples last week and pulled them out of the bag, they just felt really, really nice. Normally when you pull out a non-leather ‘vegan’ bag, they can just smell incredibly toxic [ironically]. But these were just gorgeous.” Valletta has a long history as a sustainability changemaker, driving initiatives for ethical and environmentally-conscious fashion. Since 2021 she has served as Sustainability Ambassador at FIT [Fashion Institute of Technology in New York], where she works closely with next-gen talent. She hosted the United Nations’ World Oceans Day conference in 2022, and also regularly campaigns with Jane Fonda, supporting the veteran activist’s Greenpeace Fire Drill Fridays. Karl Lagerfeld signed her up as their official Sustainability Ambassador in 2021 (after joining the global Fashion Pact in 2019); though Valletta was already advising the brand founded by the insatiably curious Mr Lagerfeld – her late, great friend – long before that. “It has been an incredible journey and an inspiring journey to see a brand that has taken this on as a responsibility to themselves but also to customers and to the planet… They have educated themselves tirelessly.” Head to the link in bio to read the full feature by Sarah Bailey ➡️ #BeInTheNow #FashionTheFuture @ambervalletta @karllagerfeld @janefonda @thesarahbailey1

The summer season is in full swing and with it comes dress-up opportunities aplenty. And though exploring rental for special events is definitely an option we are embracing, investing in a timeless, elevated piece that we’ll cherish for years and eventually pass down is someting we all want to still indulge in when the moment feels right. Look no further than the sustainable label loved by fashion insiders, E.Stott, whose practical, show-stopping dresses responsibly created with leftover fabrics by the brand's founder and designer Elizabeth Stott are all guaranteed to make an entrance at any event for years to come. With versatility as the driving force, the new Pre Fall 24 collection is designed to adapt to the wearer’s needs and personal style, allowing them to wear a piece over and over again, each time in a different and unique way. If that’s not true sustainable dressing we don’t know what is. Head to our link in bio to read our interview with Elizabeth Stott as told to Emma Sells ➡️ @e.stott_ @evjsells
