Die Kuratoren erzählen, es sei angefragt worden, ob der Spiegelsaal in Morsbroich für eine eventuelle Meisterfeier zur Verfügung stehe. Ich bin gerade mit einer Serie von Gemälden beschäftigt, die Orte der Arbeit der Polizei zeigen, ausgewählt von Polizisten, darunter auch das Stadion von Kickers Offenbach – ich bin also quasi eingestiegen in das Genre der Stadionmalerei und will mich jetzt einreihen zwischen all jene, die sich schon Monate vor einer möglichen Meisterschaft spekulativ vorbereiten auf die potenziellen Festlichkeiten und ihre Euphorie, die Hersteller von Fanartikeln und Merchandise. Bayer 04 spielt weiter großartig und gewinnt. So ein Stadiongemälde müsste doch ein schönes Geschenk sein in dieser Saison, von Arbeitgebern an verdiente Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen zum Beispiel, oder vom Oberbürgermeister an den Trainer – vorsichtshalber habe ich zwei gemalt." Chicahuaxtla 1998 I lived for a year in Chicahuaxtla, at an altitude of 2600 meters in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The photo shows the view from the village to the west, where you eventually reach the Pacific Ocean far below. The photographer Walter Reuter, who fled to Mexico in the 1940s, once left a Liesegang enlarger here. I used this enlarger to show the youth of Chicahuaxtla analog photographic technology. Photo paper was scarce and our prints were therefore very small. Not many photos stayed with me.
