Some immature Stemonitis. These were just a patch of white beads when I found them. I collected them with the intention of trying a time lapse but they had already risen up by the time I got home. This is a rare occasion that I used artificial light rather than natural light to illuminate them. Taken with the OM1, 90mm f3.5 IS PRO Macro. Lycogala conicum. A small, egg shaped species. The bigger one is about 3mm tall. . Like most Lycogala species they are very vibrant in colour when immature, and easy to spot from a distance.. These two have had a slug travel over them. A week or so ago I came across my first Cribraria find of the year. These are Cribraria argillacea. From a distance they just look a pale brown colour but up close and viewed from a low angle, their orange to dark red stems and colourful textured tops are revealed. Physarum psittacinum has got to be the most spectacular of all the Physarum species. I found two small groups last week, and this beautifully marked iridescent pair stood out from the crowd. These are relatively immature Cribraria rufa. Within hours they will turn a bland brown colour as the spores inside develop and start to dry out.
