From Paris to Portofino aboard the @vsoetrain .   DAY TWO:  From their cabins, guests awoke to a sunrise over the sea as we journeyed through Cannes. The iconic sights of the blue sea and colourful houses of Portofino rose into view as the train approached Liguria for our final stop. Just off the shores of @BelmondMaroma lies the Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest coral reef in the world. Together with @Parley.tv , local scientists and a network of coral experts, a long term project to map a region of the reef is underway — with a focus on empowering community conservation. Collaborating on the effort is professional surfer, scientist and @parley.tv ambassador @cliff_kapono . Cliff is the co-founder of @themegalab , the Hawai’i-based science lab behind Map2Adapt - a program that aims to map 1 million reefs by 2030 and is providing coastal communities around the world with the ability to create 3d models of their house reefs. Mapping can be done by anyone with an underwater camera—from Maroma’s guests and employees to local communities. These efforts can help scientists better monitor and protect the reef’s health over time, and lead to new discoveries.
