Sharing a festival aftermovie we produced for @royalenfield last December at Rider Mania in Goa 🇮🇳. This was our most challenging production so far with 7 content pieces, extremely tight deadlines and, above all, crazy hot weather. New hyperloop for @royalenfield at Rider Mania festival.  This was our craziest festival production to date: 6 days in the scorching heat of Goa 🇮🇳, 7 content pieces, a 100-hour workweek, severe sleep deprivation, fever, and 18k people united in their fanatical love for motorcycling and Royal Enfield. About the concept and edit: We jumped right into the action using this crazy FPV shot by @prohdigyy and transitioned to the main stage and a day-night-day hyperlapse to showcase the music aspect of the festival. This took us into a series of orbiting shots (fire VFX created using 🐐 @andrewkramer ’s Saber plugin for Ae) and a 360° orbit of the newly-launched Super Meteor 650. The bike swap sequence was inspired by the amazing work of @filmspektakel . Here we had six people with six different bikes and animated their cutouts to create motion. The wall orbit sequence consists of three shots using the same path and fixed point (a point you aim your camera at during shooting). We carefully arranged the riders and motorcycles for the morph transition between them to work out. A tip here is to avoid having one shot front-lit and the other back-lit, as this won’t feel like a seamless transition. Now, to avoid making a long and monotonous hyperloop but still pack some additional festival highlights (the coolest skater girl, famous legs of @levanawolf , racing images), we created an animated filmstrip. The face swap sequence shows 60+ random people from different walks of life (thank you for letting us snap your portraits). Last in the sequence is @sidlal , the company’s MD and a motorcycling icon of India. We finished off with the event’s logo and seamlessly looped the video. [How To: Basic Handheld Hyperlapse] 1) Find a prominent subject with clear patterns. 2) Define a shooting path with enough space and no obstacles. 25 (24, 30) steps equals one second of video. 3) Compose the shot and pick a fixed point. You will aim your camera at this point for the entire shoot so pick a unique and visible pattern. Camera gridlines can help you aim. For start, don't go wider than 24 mm. 4) Do a test shoot and, if necessary, adjust framing & fixed point. 5) Put the camera to manual mode and manually select white balance to avoid flicker. 6) Take a picture, make a step, and repeat the process until you’re done. Always keep a consistent step size and time interval between shots [Step size sets the speed of camera movement in your shot; Shutter speed controls the amount of motion blur] 7) In Lightroom, color grade your hero shot and use [Photo — Develop Settings — Sync Settings] to apply this grade to the entire sequence. Export all images. 8) Import the image sequence into Premiere Pro and apply Warp Stabilizer. Play with Smoothness percentage (2-10%) to get the best results. If the footage still isn’t smooth, try nesting and apply Warp Stabilizer again. This workflow works for hyperlapses with simpler subjects and shooting paths, shot at constant exposure. More complex cases require image stabilization in After Effects and exposure ramping in @LRTimelapse .
