When i first got my Sebastopol geese eggs to hatch in May 2018… little did I know the hatching challenges and adventure it would bring to our lives! i researched and read everything I could on goose incubation. I joined various Sebastopols groups on facebook. Still, nothing could prepare me for the challenges of hatching geese eggs, especially purebred Sebastopols. There is one person i met through a Sebastopol group , He is an experienced Sebastopol breeder and well known in our Sebastopol community. He taught me EVERYTHING i know today on incubation, egg anatomy, hatching emergencies, raising sebastopol goslings to adulthood. When i panicked during hatching emergencies… he was always available to guide me through it 🐣 . Over the past 6 years, I have hatched over 80 goslings from my 3 Sebastopol adults: Maui, Lucy and Marley. Over 80 goslings that have grown up and continue to populate this beautiful threatened species. Our farm and goose story has been on our local news tv, published in various media outlets and magazines. I wrote a Goose Incubation Guide that is published in
@backyardpoultrymag 🐣. Fly Away Home Farm exists and has become what it is today because of Matt Kmetez of Breezy Knoll Farm. I am honored to call him my mentor and friend. Thank you Matt 🐣
