I’ve stood up for equality and justice for our LGBTQ+ community my entire life. It’s been a long road to progress, but we can’t stop now. Today, I’m proud to sign two bills that continue our work to make Illinois a safe, empowering, and inclusive home. The first ensures nonprofit boards better reflect the populations they serve — a win for diversity. The second removes barriers to the process of changing gender on a birth certificate for Illinoisans — a win for inclusivity.

Today is about more than just incentives and investments — it's about revitalizing our communities. I'm proud to sign into law an omnibus package that maintains the momentum of our economic renaissance in Illinois. We are solidifying our status in the economy of tomorrow.

Five years ago, I announced the Getting to Zero IL Plan — understanding, preventing, and treating HIV. Now, we’re launching 2.0 to build on our progress and evolve our response to better meet the needs of Illinoisans. We’re well on our way to a state free from HIV by 2030. #gtzil2030

Illinois is taking a big step forward in making our state the best to raise a family. I'm proud to sign into law the creation of the Department of Early Childhood — the first-ever unified state agency dedicated to making services simpler, better, and fairer for families.

Know this, I’ve been marching for reproductive rights for a long time. And I’ll never back down from this fight.

Illinois is ranked #2 in the nation for our infrastructure. It shouldn't come as a surprise — we've created the first capital construction program in a decade and announced the largest MYP in the state's history. Creating jobs. Rebuilding Illinois. Delivering real results.

Juneteenth in Illinois is a state holiday. We honor the end of the national shame of chattel slavery and remind ourselves our work to dismantle systemic racism carries on. Illinois is ensuring equality and equity — and we recommit to working toward liberty and justice for all.

My mission? To make Illinois the best state in the nation to raise a family.
