May 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, the first international treaty that focused exclusively on this issue.
The International Council on Archives (@ica.councilarchives ), the International Council of Museums (@icomofficiel ), the International Council on Monuments and Sites (@icomosofficial ) and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (@iflaglobal ) express their profound concern about this escalating destruction of life and cultural heritage during armed conflict and political instability.
The 4 founding organisations of Blue Shield International reaffirm the essential role of #Libraries , #Museums , #Archives and #HeritagePlaces in the survival of societies and the promotion of #Peace in the context of an alarming global increase of armed conflicts.

👏 Une réussite en matière de coopération et d’opérabilité pour le projet ALIPH-ICOM !
Un an et demi après son lancement en novembre 2022, ce projet a été mené à bien grâce à l’étroite collaboration entre l’ICOM et ses Comités nationaux au Burkina Faso (@icomburkinafaso ) et au Mali, à la participation de 22 musées de ces 2 pays ainsi qu’au soutien financier de la Fondation ALIPH (@aliph_foundation ).
Les objectifs de ce projet ont été atteints avec succès :
✅️ L’organisation de 2 séminaires en personne à Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) et à Bamako (Mali), avec la participation de professionnels et d’experts des musées des deux pays ainsi que de spécialistes internationaux.
✅️ Le renforcement des capacités matérielles en matière de sécurité et de gestion des risques pour les 22 musées participants
✅️ L’élaboration d’un modèle de plan d’urgence sur mesure pour chacun de ces musées.
✅️ La production de matériel de communication tel qu’un film documentaire sur le projet et un livret de bonnes pratiques destiné aux professionnels des musées burkinabés et maliens.
