We are devastated to learn that our friend and columnist Jane Wenham-Jones has sadly died.
A author of seven books and founder of Broadstairs Lit, Jane also won Columnist of the Year at last year's Kent Press and Broadcast Awards and was so chuffed. She was also shortlisted this year.
A true legend. Rest in Power.
Happy #iwd2021 to all the amazing women in Thanet and to all women journalists.
Much to do still... especially in our industry where women are twice as likely to be targeted with violence and abuse than men just for doing their job
From the NUJ: “Such attacks not only harm the individuals concerned but also normalise and legitimise the harassment of journalists at work which is highly damaging to the critical role that journalism plays in our democracy"
#covid has especially highlighted gross inequality within the industry which is conveyed in this Press Gazette article.
