Get Familiar With Jerrau
Some DJs just light up a room or spark a venue when they are in the booth. For us,
@jerrau__ is one of them. An artist full of joy and enthusiasm, whether he’s spinning a slow jam, a warm house gem, a raw bass track, or a bounce ball jungle tune: his smile and body are communicating the love he has for the music he shares. An intoxicating energy that always gets us on our toes.
The happiness he got from music was much present since a young age: “I would listen to a lot of different music. I just loved sounds and I loved to share music.” When he was twenty and relocated to Rotterdam for seven months, he suddenly found himself at a party where his taste in music connected to music that got played out. "Most people didn’t really like it when I came up to them showing the underground hip-hop I was into," he recalls in an interview with The Asymetrics [2022]. But it was here that things came together. While also gravitating to electronic music at the time, that night he felt: "Oh, the music I listen to kind of fits over here.” - because, you know, up until that point my reference of club music had always been hip-hop and stuff.”
During the small after-party, he asked to play some tracks and people loved it; it was the moment it hit him to maybe start DJ-ing. Not long after, his uncle learned him to mix and in the months that followed he threw his first party in 2017, called Lettuce: “I realized 'OK, I'm new to this, I don't know anyone, no one's gonna book me, so I'm starting my own event. So I did, in Amsterdam, and I had my first show with my friends (smiles). It was wild.'"
In following years, his inexhaustible curiosity and broad taste in music shaped a dynamic dance floor style. One that’s continuously evolving and revolves around bass-heavy club music, break and broken beats, and warm, soulful melodies. He has been steadily knocking on (inter)national doors and melted the hearts of many during club nights. TIP: his radio shows on
@rrfm.fm will give you a good glimpse of his broad musical interest, beautiful to step into. We are happy to welcome him back into our booth on May 11 and witness his energy radiate The Colorfloor.
