My Queen of Heart,
You are my first baby, the one who began shaping me as a mother, the one who I share so many firsts with, the one who taught me that unconditionally devoted love exists within me. You are a girl so good, a grown woman would admire your qualities. And I am one of those women in your fan club, admiring qualities I never knew to wish for in a daughter. I am constantly complimented on your encouraging and inclusive nature, your kindness.
Im beyond proud of how you treat others, how you handle people who mishandle you, how you resolve conflict, how you choose the high road always.
There are more qualities than I can mention that I admire. Im raising you, while learning to be a little more like you.
You continue to show me a different way to think and respond. You are grace and strength wrapped in a bubbly persona. You are light and happiness but incredibly tough, though few see this special strength because your restrained responses.
Your emotional and mental resilience astounds me. You hold it together so well.
Today, you are again taking a first step for our family. Pur first teenager. Our little girl is moving towards womanhood. The tween times are over and this is the precipice of major life changes in your life that I already know Im not ready for. Im not ready to trust the world more with you. Im not ready to see you take steps away, find freedom further from us.
This slow release will be hard for me….who would ever wanna let someone as loving and magical as you go?! But I promise to mirror the strength that you show me, to restrain my fears and trust the woman you are becoming. For today, I will focus on restraining my eyes from flooding and focus on celebrating you and this milestone birthday. Happy birthday, Leilanna Olivia!
