Alla & her children were reunited last week with their husband & father Alex Storozhuk, the first time in almost two years. Tears & hugs flowed, it was a heart-warming & highly emotional scene as he walked through the gates at Sydney Airport. They’ll spend a few short weeks together before Alex returns to Ukraine.
Alex was separated from his family as they crossed over the Polish-Ukrainian border in Feb 2022, as the Russia-Ukraine war began.
Since, Alla & her children have taken refuge in Australia. From meeting them a year ago & in a time that Alla describes as the most challenging of her life, they’ve worked incredibly hard to settle into a new way of life - learning English & to swim, attending school, passing driving tests & forming a business.
“The main problem that I, my relatives and friends face is the constant pressure of war. This is expressed by constant rocket attacks, which are accompanied by air raid warnings, the uncertainty of the end of the war and constant reports of dead friends and acquaintances.” Alex Storozhuk
