It’s election time! So get out there this coming Wednesday and mark your x where you think it counts. To support all you wonderful eggs in our locale doing their part we’ve produced some prints to give away after you’ve sunk a ballot. Arted by the talent of @realhackneydave and printed by our in house print smiths @mesh.and.blade , we’ve got just over 100 or so to give away! We’ll be waiting for you from 9:30, 4th of July. It will also be the opening day of an exhibition we’re hosting for the wonderful @artcanorg artists so come check out an absolutely delightful smorgasbord of art while you’re at it. The whole @weareinkyfingers gang, @mesh.and.blade & @realhackneydave are here at the beautiful @saatchi_gallery who are hosting @aldarexperts London Square event this evening for a night of flower power. We are getting the guests to hand print one of Dave’s type pieces onto some beautiful giclees of classic flower illustrations. As it happens saatchi are currently exhibiting the @the_rhs botanical art and photography show. Lovely bit of serendipity. It’s a blast, sometimes we have the best job in the world 😘

Another Absolute banger from the Voting Schmoting show, back by popular demand for those that missed it, is ‘Ice Cream’ by the majestical Redbellyboy. The man himself came in to print this one in our studio and it was delightful to have him over and see his beautiful CMYK process come to life before our eyes. ‘Ice Cream’ is presented in vibrant CMYK, a technical style of printing that uses 4 different colours, printed through 4 different halftones in order to create the full colour finish of the final print. Each one has been finished by adding a badge sticker onto the subject. We can’t wait to get this one on our gallery walls and we hope you like it as much as we do. Following on from the huge success of our Voting Schmoting exhibition, in which this edition sold out within an hour of the shop going live, we decided we would print more of them for you, for the artist and because we bloody love promoting good work and excellent art. Cassandra is all these things and more. We bloody love this one, classic Batgirl adulterated with a lovely message on the utility belt. Simple, elegant and beautiful to look at. The print is realised in a beautifully smooth vintage looking halftone, printed with quality inks onto a range of specialist finish GF Smith paper. We have elections coming up and we are going to carry on banging the drum to get you lot voting by dropping a few editions this year that are all about that. I’ve made (and bought) many records in my life, but Ricky (@rbyrneart / @mesh.and.blade ) has without doubt made me the most incredible sleeve I’ve ever held in my life. AND IT GLOWS IN THE MOTHER FLIPPIN DARK!!! An absolute master. Go check his other art, you’ll love it! Had the pleasure of seeing the work we printed for @cameron_ugbodu & @stuartsemple on behalf of @mobileartdisco (curated by the incredible @hepworth_jordan ) at their current show Eno @boroughmarket the space, collection and hang are absolutely wonderful and well worth visiting. Oooohweee! gilding some absolute beauties for @aawatson_art who will finish and mount these pieces once I’ve done the initial steps. If you haven’t seen his incredible work then give the man a like and a follow, well worth it, he’s ace! These days for large areas I use master rolls from @giustomanettibattiloro supplied by the lovely folks at @goldleafsupply It’s still painstaking, slow and terrifying (there’s over £100 of gold on each sheet, so no mistakes) but the finish is delicious and much cleaner than applying standard 8x8 blocks. At least in my humble opinion. I love using gold, I’ve gone back and forth over the years on my opinions about using real leaf but I always come back to it. Imitation gold just doesn’t do it for me, it’s rough to work with and looks cheap. I want the materials I work with to reflect the value and integrity of my clients art. I’d rather risk my bottom line on giving them the best result than cut costs or corners in production. Oh my. Looks like we messed up the scheduling for our first exhibition 😅. What a bunch of knuckle heads. Turns out I’ve got a mani-pedi thats about 4 months overdue and Daves had an acupuncture incident and is having some needles removed. Truth be told the old mans losing the plot a little and has a private view with the wonderful @theelectricgallery on the 7th already. Electric Curates: Dave Buonaguidi Hoxton Hotel 81 Great Eastern St 7th September 6:00 - 8:00pm Be a bit of a shame to hold a private view without one of the artists and on the same night as another gallery is having theirs. So we will be shifting the date to Friday the 8th of September. Begging your forgivenesses for any calendar issues we’ve caused. By means of making it up to you, the wonderful crew at @growhackney will be catering the event with some delicious meze platters for you to feast upon, a big upgrade from the originally planned pineapple and cheese cocktail sticks, thank you grow!
