Today's journey from Pavia to Corte St Andrea the ferry boat across the Po river over a 1,000 years pilgrims have travelled this way to Rome even Sigeric stayed here in 994ad / a beautiful mimosa tree💖/ the 18thc Triumphant arch to the Ferry/ and the millennium dedication 🙏🇻🇦🇮🇹/ the River Po flowing swiftly and the cheerful Italian trains/ the Franciegena pilgrims pillar/at the Pilgrims hostel at 20€ per night with Breakfast it's part of the Church that stands here/ ferry at 9am tomorrow 🙏🚴‍♂️

The journey continues to Rome from Vecelli to Pavia in relentless 30cplus heat and the smog haze following Sigerics route of 994ad and the 20mile straight roads😮🚴‍♂️ memorials to forgotten wars/ a house decorated with Architectural salvage?/the amazing St Christopher's church in Vercelli ( Angels really do exist 🙏) and the ancient bridge that crosses the river Po in Pavia/ monuments of our place in history/the Cathedral in Pavia🙏🇮🇹 Saturday night in one of the plazas 🥳💖

Today's journey to Vecelli past fields of rice and Sweetcorn and the icon of St Mary & child also a Franciegena chapel that sits by the side of the once Roman road a beautiful carved Roman road marker still there today (28) the central sq in Vecelli and its covered Roman style arcades and the ubiquitous Red Ferrari and dog/ cat owner with matching red nails/ old shop fronts in wood/the Pilgrims map/ and a medieval farmhouse pimped up in the 17thc🥰🇮🇹🚴‍♂️

The Roman road south 2,000 yrs old they were very good at straight roads to Rome/ though today was tough as there was a landslide and the rd was blocked so Steve had to cycle/ push the bike up a mountain but the good thing it alway's goes down/views of the day / Iverea a Roman town then down to the lake at Viverone a holiday spot for Turinesse 🇮🇹🥰

Aosta rest day tomorrow I leave going south again towards the Vatican ( the city of keys🙏🇮🇹) view of the Convent garden and quarters/next view south and the iconic mountains/ 2 pics of a 1871 building in the Viennese style terracotta tiles adorned🥰/ and a hardware shop selling everything/cheeses that some I'll buy tomorrow for a picnic 😋/ amazing iron balcony 1787/ and the restaurant I dined in last night built into the Roman walls/ mountain view/ and St Anselm born here died in Canterbury as Archbishop 12thc a noted philosopher on religion 🙏🇮🇹🇬🇧
