I’ve been preparing to sing Lucia since I was 15 years old. I’d put my headphones on, listen to Maria Callas sing the iconic Mad Scene, while I gave the performance of a lifetime infront of my childhood mirror. I’d lock myself in my room while I compared the various ornamentations Joan Sutherland, Maria Callas or Anna Moffo would sing. Embodying Lucia has been an emotional journey and massive undertaking. But I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my team. A wonderful coach and friend once told me,“You must believe in divine timing”. I believe it was time. I want to thank @reginaoperacompany for giving me the incredible opportunity to perform my first role. And I thank Scott Wiley and Sabrina Palladino for supporting and allowing me artistic freedom to become Lucia. I’m very thankful for all the new friends/colleagues, and memories I’ve made. Came home and crashed on the couch with my Squeaky and finally woke up to find Timmy sleeping next to me, who had been working nonstop for days - passing ships 🚢 in the night.
