At the Global vigil for Regan Russell, @lasvegasanimalsave joined with @dxelasvegas to bear witness to the suffering of these chickens and ducks at Charleston and Highland Poultry to honor Regan, who was killed while giving water to pigs in Burlington, Canada. The industry doesn’t want you to see these images. They want you to continue seeing the animals as objects, but they are sentient beings who don’t want to die. Behind My Blue Eyes 💔🐖 My life over the past six months has been full of abuse, confusion, and misery. I was separated from my mother. I cried out for her, and she cried back for me, but I never saw her again. I never got to feel love from anyone. People look at me like I am a mere object. I am nothing; I don’t matter. I dream that this nightmare will end. I want to be reunited with my family, who were stolen from me. A man has come to collect me and my fellow species today. Is this my way out? Will I finally be free? I am on this long journey. I can smell fumes in the air. I feel sick, and I’ve been moved around so much. What is this? This doesn’t look like a place of freedom and happiness. Who are these people waiting to see me? People are looking at me, but this time with love and kindness. They stroke my face and tell me they are sorry, that they love me. I am happy to finally be seen as equal but confused as to why everyone is so sad. I then hear a scream in the distance as the truck pulls away. It then dawns on me: I am in trouble. This won’t be my place of freedom; it will be my final journey. Our team @christchurchanimalsave protested the North Canterbury Hunting Competition yesterday. Volunteers were met by children wearing animal costumes emblazoned with 'Animal Slay Movement', and they decided to leave hastily when they were handed a baby possum whose mother had been shot and a swarm of children started snatching for the possum, shouting, "Kill it! Kill it!" 💔 It was so disheartening for the team to witness such aggressive behavior, as well as the hundreds of dead animals on display, including cats, deer, pigs, possums, and other animals considered "pests." But they are true heroes for managing to save a life! Swipe to see the cutest wee possum, now named Hope, all safe and sound! 👉
