Art is at the heart of our home at 57 Great Jones, and this legacy will continue with the makers, artists and creatives who will be sharing their experience and teachings through residencies and salons.
@SimonUngless is our first artist-in-residence, and will be working from the atelier February 19-22. In addition to printing on vintage and deadstock garments, Simon has developed a new technique of mending and combining old pieces: “My goal is to get people to stop shopping, and to see what they have and can be used and worn again.”
Simon will be available for one-on-one appointments while he’s in town. If you’d like to bring a piece for him to reimagine—or for him to work on with you collaboratively—appointments are available by emailing atelier@atelierjolie.com.
Simon will also host a demo and class on Wednesday, February, 21 from 5-7pm, $25 per person. Bring a garment from home to use as your painter’s canvas and all other materials will be provided. Space is limited, so sign-ups are required via the email above.
We will be doing more and hope you join as we grow our community. Upcoming discussions and classes include workshops with the brilliant Ghanaian-American designer
@MimiPlange , who blends creativity, craftsmanship and sustainability to create pieces that are influenced by her African heritage. We will also be hosting cooking classes with
@Eatoffbeat , the talented chefs who run the cafe at 57 Great Jones. We’ll continue to share more upcoming classes, offerings, and our updated calendar here, and hope you’ll join us. See you soon.
