Why not in Berlin, you may ask? While we absolute love our hometown, the venue landscape unfortunately is not great. A place like the Muziekgieterij simply doesn’t exist in Berlin. With a 1.100 capacity main stage and a 450 capacity 2nd stage, it‘s an amazing well-wrought place catering to the needs of both artists and audience, a place that was built to be a venue, planned by acoustic architects… and at the same time offers a nice environment to hang out, chat, browse through vinyl distro boxes and chill between the performances. And truth be told, we have 10x more artists from France and Belgium in our roster than from Germany 😄 While we‘re beyond stoked that we‘ve managed to put this lineup together, it goes without saying that sadly not every Pelagic artist can play this year… but that leavs leaves something to look forward to for the coming years! In order to be able to do that, we need your support: please buy a ticket — we’ve tried to keep the ticket price as low as can be, while aspiring to pay our bands decent fees. Please don’t expect miracles, the world is not the same anymore after the pandemic and a festival of this scope is a risky endeavour... We hope you are as excited about this as we are. As most of you will know by now, we are celebrating 15 years of the label over two days in August this year, with an incredible line-up of Pelagic Records all-stars & special guests.⁠ ⁠ As a celebration of the diversity of music and creativity at the heart of Pelagic Records, it was imperative that the festival line up avoided any clashes. The Pelagic Fest day splits have been painstakingly put together so that every artist can be seen and enjoyed by every attendee.⁠ ⁠ With the remaining weekend tickets selling fast, we now also made single day tickets available. Taking place across the two rooms of Maastricht’s outstanding Muziekgieterij venue, Pelagic Fest 2024 will be headlined by the labels founder's own band The Ocean, who will also seize the opportunity for a belated 10 year anniversary celebration of their acclaimed 2013 album ‘Pelagial’. "Hüzün" live session is out now 👁️‍🗨️ Before turning into the epic post/industrial rock anthem you (hopefully) discovered with our new album DELTA, "Hüzün" was composed on an acoustic guitar. We did our best to catch this feeling again while recording with the singers of @mystery_bulgarian_voices in Sofia (Bg) during the summer of 2021. Returning from time apart to a world forever changed, dread-fuelled duo A SWARM OF THE SUN bring with them their fourth studio album, ‘An Empire’; its brooding, yet beautiful, melancholic narrative arc allows the band to dig ever deeper into desolation whilst a newfound lyrical focus adds a tenderness that is both harrowing and heartwarming at once. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden; Erik Nilsson and Jakob Berglund have been producing inimitable, sombre soundscapes as A Swarm of the Sun for 17 years. A series of monumental albums, 2010’s groundbreaking debut ‘Zenith’, post-metal masterpiece ‘The Rifts’ in 2015 and its breathtakingly stark follow up ‘The Woods’ in 2019 have seen the understated outfit carve out their own uncompromisingly bleak place within the international heavy scene. With the early bones of forthcoming ‘An Empire’ tabled by events beyond their control in 2019, Erik and Jakob came together years later and scrapped them in favour of creating something entirely new; something distinctly different to break the cycle, defy categorisation and reflect the uncomfortable uncertainties of the times we now live in. All of this is tracked shipping! Our vinyl subscription gives you access to special ltd. colour editions that are exclusively available for our subscribers, delivered every month or every other month to your doorstep, to make sure you won’t miss a single release! Some releases are available only for subscribers, such as a new EP by one of our most well-known bands coming up in September, or the 4 Häxa EPs released throughout this year.
