I owe a lot to Marco @marco_pomata_tattoo for showing me early on the good stuff, much before i held a tattoo machine for the first time. He tattooed me and my friends so many times.
We met because of a common passion for train writing and he introduced me into the wonders of traditional tattooing.
He told me many stories about American tattooers such as Chad, Smith Street to name few. He was the first friend of mine with a killer collection and a killer backpiece. His back was done by the legend Luca Mamone (@lucamamone ). Even though it wasn’t on purpose i ended up getting the same design as him.
Marco was my mentor in a way. He showed me all the good inks and needles and told me where to get em, all the good books and took me to Uroboro to buy some, gave me a ton of linebooks, took me to the Roma Tattoo Con to buy my first real machines from Santa Sangre @santasangresupply and @lucaneore (i used to tattoo with some Amazon machines my best friend got me for my 21st birthday until then).
He always had the right words to make me understand what was wrong with my work and my way to cook pasta ahah.
His speech and his strong Italian accent still echo in my head to this day. Grazie fra!

I tell the story behind my backpiece with Francesco @francescoschiavi all the time because thats the greatest example of how strong your mind can be when you put it at the right place.
Back in 2017 i l had traveled to Tattoo River @tattooriver Vicenza for a consultation then returned couple of weeks later to start it.
Day one: 6hours: « damn he did all the lines of the back and the black of the panther ». Day 2: 6hs freehand/lined/shaded all my right buttchick and thigh. Day three: he freehanded whats left on my left buttchick/thigh and i went in the rest room before we start. I came back with a great smile « guys my pee is f***n’ neon pink wtf! » Francesco called his wife wich is a doctor and she was like «your customer’s body function are not fine at-all, seems like his kidney is having hard time after so much effort/tattooing. He should go home» He did the lines and we called it a day. We did 3 more sessions in the course of 8 months (1 in Amsterdam and 2 back at Tattoo River).
3 trips 6 sessions 32hs total.
I loved everything about this experience and it has been a true game changer for me. Even if I love my back i would love it to be empty to start over again. My eternal gratitude to Francesco. He s the best. Look no further! Drawing skills, culture, technique, discipline, kindness and willingness to share/listen. He s got it all!! 5 stars ⭐️
That’s when you grasp that feeling as a client that you understand how your customers effort and consistency is valuable. Grateful everyday for the trust and freedom i m given.
