John Thomas: Back in the 80s the Red Rockers were on tour with (I think) the Go-Go's. We played what was then the Opryland USA theme park outside of Nashville. They had cut a big circle of the original floor of the old Ryman Auditorium stage and inlaid it into the stage of new Grand Ole Opry. And the mic was right there in the middle of the circle.

I remember calling my mom after the concert on a payphone backstage. I just said, "Mom…" I was kind of tearing up. Because I knew she would be super proud of that. I grew up on the Grand Ole Opry on the radio. I called her and told her, "Guess what I just did? I just played the Grand Ole Opry."

When you're standing in that circle… I don't want to be weird about it, but you do feel a magic. There is something poignant about being in that little circle and all the people that have stood there before you. That's a lot of weight. I'm so grateful that I got that opportunity to stand there in the circle.
Fred: I've heard the most wonderful stories from people about how a certain song or a certain show affected them in some way. And lot of musicians get that. That's not exclusive to Cowboy Mouth in any way, shape or form. But knowing that you're putting something positive out there -- a positive energy, a positive experience for the world -- and then that comes back to you in ways that you didn't really expect… that's really gratifying. That's what it's all about.
Fred: Cajun fiddle during "Jenny Says"? Why the hell not! Thanks @amandashawmusic for helping spread the rock 'n' roll joy tonight with Cowboy Mouth. It was a blast playing with you! Thanks to all our friends and everyone in Nashville who made it out to the show tonight!

Fred: What a great way to end a great week! I think we may have found our new home away from home in Nashville at the @3rdandlindsley club. The Drivin' N Cryin' guys have been telling me about that one for years. I don't think you could've fit another person in there tonight. It was packed and crazy! At one point, we indulged our request from the crowd for "Kelly Ripa" that morphed into our punk rock version of The Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait." But in my humble opinion, the highest of highlights during the show tonight was being joined on stage by the Louisiana fiddle phenomenon Miss @amandashawmusic ! I'm not sure how this happened, but here's the moment where "I Believe" turned into a punk rock "Louisiana Saturday Night!" Damn, this girl can play!

Fred: Well, THAT was pretty cool! Last night we played the Overton Shell in Memphis, the site of Elvis’s first “professional gig.” He had just put out his first Sun Records single, “That’s Alright, Mama” and was in the process of turning into an overnight phenomenon that still has yet to let up after all these years. The backstage area was pretty cool, with LOTS of memorabilia involving not only Elvis and other 50s rockabilly stars, but also commemorating the heydays of the late 60s and 70s, when they hosted lots of Brian’s favorite bands.
We had a HUGE crowd that went nuts (after I let them know it was OK) for the rest of the entire evening. Although the stage was blisteringly hot (I think I sweated buckets up there), I think we did a good job and they seem to want us back! Love that. Tonight? Viva Nash-Vegas!
Fred: Jackson, Mississippi! What a wild, packed, crazy night that was! The audience was revved up and ready to go from song one! John Thomas's flight schedule got mixed up and he ended up arriving to the venue five minutes before we started on very little sleep, but still performed like the champion he is! Thanks everybody for making that show a blast! On to Memphis, baby!
