Rehearsing with Cane-Man-Dala at @joensuunkonservatorio , the first school I attended for professional music studies some 20 years ago (and before that for some hobby classes). The building has changed, but hearing the acoustics, I have no longing for the past. Some good things are still there, though! There’s my old drum teacher, Jari Lappalainen, behind the cans! And the man on the bass, Timo Pekonen, also led our rock ensemble (among other bad influence) back in the days.
But enough with the nostalgia! On Wednesday I have the rare opportunity of sitting in for a few songs at Takapiharock. Good times guaranteed!

-Huomenna soitetaan Rääkkylän Kihauksessa Tsaijuteltalla 13.30 alkaen. -Lisäksi Aino ja Johanna (ja Veera, joka meni jo edeltä) esittävät lastentanssiesityksen Vieras Väki klo 16. Sit piimää auringonnousuun ja vähän lepoa ennen ensi viikkoa, jolloin Pohjois-Karjala visiitti jatkuu Joensuussa.
-Keskiviikkona Takapiharockissa vierailemme Cane-Man-Dala-yhtyeen setissä, joka alkaa klo 13.
-Reissun lopuksi musisoimme vielä Nyt Voima Virtaa - tanssillisessa esityksessä Joensuun Kaupunginkirjaston Muikkusalissa. Esitys pohjautuu Kalevalamittaisiin runoihin ja ajankohta on epäilyttävän sopivasti Einon Leinon, Suven ja Runon päivä 6.7. lauantai ja esitykset klo 12 ja 14
Olikohan siinä kaikki? Ainakin ihan tarpeeksi ”lomaviikolle”! 😂

I bought this pair of #Sennheiser headphones back in 2007. 17 years took it’s toll on the cushions, but after replacing them they feel like new! They even (and I guess obviously) sound better now! Durability is rare these days so whenever I find something like this, it feels like a treasure. Keep up the good work, @sennheiser !

I’ve been downsizing my live gear to make life a bit easier. Tomorrow I’ll take the FM3-modeller, pedal-size wireless and the drum boxes along with the accompanying pedals to a maiden voyage (which is a lot of maiden voyaging even by my standards). Even the snake is smaller than the one I used to have back in my snake-charming days. Yet it seems that the empty space in the car keeps filling up. Funny how it works…
So anyway, tomorrow were doing a special concert with @ainomiihkali and @stigvirallinen at @liimamaentanssilava . You should be there, too!

Updating my live setup and getting to know it’s new center piece #fractalaudio#fm3 . The idea was to downsize (and have more room for banjos in the car) without sacrificing sound or usability of the rig and so far everything seems to be as good or even better than before. Not sure how much of this comes through on the samples via these audio algorithms here, but especially on the last sample you might get a sense of the dynamic response of this thing. Or can you? Also, which is your favourite sound?

Opetushommat on kyllä kivoja ja monipuolisia hommia. Tänään oli jo plectrum banjoa, toinen oppilas oli tehnyt kitaralle hienon sointumelodiasovituksen Someday My Prince Will Comesta ja siinä vähän hiottiin kolmisointujen ja laajemman harmonian avulla jännitteen säätelyä, äsken soitinnettiin loppuun Bachin Soolosellosarjasta se hitikkäin ukulelle. Jäljellä vielä muutama bluegrass-banjotunti.
Kaapelitehtaalla siis opetellaan vielä ainakin toukokuu. Jos oppilaita riittää, niin järkkäilen myös kesälle opetuspäiviä Helsinkiin. Ja jos löytyy#smartum , #edenred tai #epassi , niin nehän kannattaa tietysti tilittää miulle! ;) laittakaahan viestiä!
