Saltram is a well-loved place for many, providing a vital link to heritage and green spaces for the local community in a rapidly expanding city. We want to ensure that everyone feels welcome to visit and that Saltram can play a pivotal role in supporting health, well-being, and education in Plymouth. Together with our partners, we are committed to implementing a range of improvements throughout the estate to better serve the evolving needs of the communities we serve. The extended country park will be free-to-access and aims to open to the public in the summer of 2025, subject to planning. The project will open up historic views similar to those captured in an 18th-century painting by landscape artist William Tomkins which is on display at Saltram House. What would Anne have searched for? *tries to remember rhyme about Henry VIII’s wives* #NationalTrust Image: an oil painting of Anne Boleyn gazing to the right, wearing a brown velvet gable-hood headdress, who is still said to haunt her birthplace, Blickling Hall. Text on the image reads, 'make the comments section look like Anne Boleyn's internet browsing history'

With its many ponds and watercourses, @wickenfennt is an ideal home for dragonflies and damselflies. In fact, 22 of the UK’s 57 species have been recorded here, including the rare Norfolk Hawker! Thanks to @britishdragonflysociety it has now been designated the UK’s newest dragonfly hotspot, one of only 23 in the country. This designation recognises years of conservation efforts to create ideal conditions for these ancient, winged insects to thrive ❤️ 📷 Female Scarce Chaser dragonfly by Ross Hoddinott

Does anyone else feel so much better after a fully loaded scone? #NationalCreamTeaDay Photos: A scone cut in half and loaded up with cream and jam (we'd like to point out one half is jam first, the other cream first), text reads 'Realising it wasn't that you were sad... you just needed a cream tea.'

In our latest National Trust Podcast, we meet Tayshan Hayden-Smith. An ex-professional footballer, @manliketaysh turned to the healing power of nature after the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy in 2017. Since then, he’s been on a journey to bring access to nature to all. In this episode, he shows ranger Kate Martin around his local community garden and together they see that a garden can be anywhere and anything. Follow the link in our profile or search ‘Podcasts’ on our website to listen. #NationalTrust

William Bankes was wealthy and well-connected yet spent his final years in exile. To avoid prosecution for same-sex acts, he fled England in 1841. He had to leave behind his beloved home @ntkingstonlacy , but he found ways to continue transforming the house from abroad. It's thought that Bankes risked his life to visit Kingston Lacy at least once before his death. In a letter home, he references a detail on one of the doors and asks for it to be fixed – a strange thing to know about unless you’d seen it in person. Bankes' enduring love of Kingston Lacy enriched and preserved its historic collection, which we’re able to look after thanks to your support.
