Shortie on the hunt .. I’m hoping to get lots more photos of the Short eared Owls this winter as the migrants start to return to our shores for the winter. It’s difficult to find them in the south of England where I am during the summer months because there’s not many that stay here. So I have some specific trips planned for these beautiful owls.. •••>> Did you know ? <<••• Short-eared owls mainly hunt during the daytime, flying low over moorland, grassland and saltmarshes where they feed on field voles and small birds. About the same size as the barn owl, but with long wings, the short-eared owl breeds in North England and Scotland, but can be seen more widely in winter. They nest on the ground in scraped-out hollows lined with grass and downy feathers. The largest Gannet colony in the UK A few highlights from my yearly Mecca to Bempton Cliffs to see all the sea birds nesting on the cliffs, my first collection is of the beautiful Gannets.
