Tristan Da Cunha

Last month, we headed up north to visit one of our favourite people on the planet - the man, the myth, the legend - Tristan da Cunha. Tristan connected with our crew over a decade ago as an early supporter of the Funk, and it was instantly clear that he was made for our tribe. Now, we’re honoured to have him as a key player in our SlapFam, slappin’ and funkin’ with us all year round. Ahead of our show in Leeds last December, Tristan kindly invited us into his home and we got the chance to take a closer look into the makings of all things TDC, from his first experiences with underground music, to his banging record collection and his first pair of turntables, that he still has today. Smackin’ the speaker, breakin’ the beat, freakin’ the floor, however you want to call it - there’s not many out there that can do what this man can do, the way he does it. Dungeon Funk. The party where the “Meat got Slapped“ at the rave mecca of @fabriclondonofficial for a bank holiday Meating. Throwing it back to this incredible moment in time where our kr3ws merged into one for what was an outrageous night of world-class music. From Ron Obvious’s live debut in room1, a masterful closing set from Dungeon Funk, to the incredible room2 performances of the young padawans A.M. Project, Azaad, Keefy G and our gangsta gal Georgia. The night brought the Special Force in every sense, to every sense. We also have to mention @soyvelasco , @djsenc @jackling_oscurolondon and @doudou.md bringing the heat to the floors. All killer, no filler. Huge thanks to fabric for hosting us. We then kept it rolling until 6PM the next day for what was a epic day of music and celebration at @starlanepizzabar . DING DONG - ROUND 2 🛎️🎶 Thrilled to be back with one of my absolute favourite DJ’s and all round top sausage @truly___madly at @picklefactorye2 once again. We had such a good one and could have sold out the venue two times over last time so we just had to do it again. I know you’re all probably recovering from the bank holiday still but you really won’t want to miss this . The story goes that he was playing at a party and was pulling the promoters leg by acting way too drunk . The said promoter then called me asking what he should do ? Should he let him play ? I didn’t know about him pretending so couldn’t vouch for his performance. I messaged Truly and said are you ok ? What’s going on ? … Truly being a joker and the consummate professional that he is then went on to smash the roof off and detonate the dancefloor as he always does. Afterwards we all laughed about it and he made this amazing T-shirt to commemorate the event . BANG Holiday Sunday in London was explosive as Dungeon Meat and SlapFunk collided at the legendary rave mecca fabric. As always the music and energy was incredible. HUGE Thanks to everyone who played a part in the party from the organisers to the artists and of course you on the dancefloor. We will definitely be back again after such a successful collaboration.
