MY 16-HR LAYOVER IN LA🛬🇺🇸

STORYTIME📖: when I was booking my flight to London, I thought it’d be fun to book the one with a 16-hour layover in LA.
I had never been to the US(of)A and I thought what a cool way to start my epic adventure.
After being cleared through some crazy security, complete with sniffer dogs, I quickly realised that LA was super impractical to get around, due to its traffic and bad transport (there I said it), and I nearly accepted that I was gonna sit in LAX for the next 15 or so hours watching movies.
Enter JOY, a local Texan who had the exact same layover as mine though en route to Japan. Mustering up all my extrovert energy that I could, I asked her what she was doing.
Within a 30-second conversation, we confirmed that we were not serial killers and decided it’d be cool to share Ubers to explore LA.
Joy had been here before and had plans to eat some Jamaican and go to Randy’s Donuts (which were bombbbb), and as my only other plan would’ve been to try and go to the closest In-N-Out, I graciously followed.
LA was actually weirdly cinematic to me. It all had a yellow tinge almost, as if I stepped into a movie. One moment it’s super ded and gross and all of a sudden you’re at Venice beach?!
I wanted to also go to the observatory in La La Land, but it would’ve cost ANOTHER $120USD ish for another hour or so, and I didn’t wanna miss my flight and be stuck in LA.
The craziest and saddest part of this story is that Joy and I never fully got each other’s details as insta messed up when we typed them in. So if anyone knows a Joy from Texas who went to Japan in Feb, pls tell them THANK YOU & I owe them BIGTIME😅.
