my favorite person, biggest confidant, sweetest supporter, my best friend, my grandma and soon-to-be great grandma to our baby, happy 80th birthday.when told we needed a witness to sign our marriage license, we knew exactly who it needed to be. I yelled from across the lawn at city hall, “grandma, will you be our witness?” we could all see the emotion that came over her and it special.27 years ago, my mom was a scared, young girl who was going to have a baby. my grandma told her, “if the whole world turns their backs on us, we’ll get through it together.” I’ve known that moment for my whole life and for many reasons, I know I am who I am and where I am today because of her.her love and support is unconditional and so easily felt. she has prepared me for this year and time of my life for many, many years. she has listened to me for hours talk about the same thing. she has given me advice, lifted me when I was down and really taught me that pretty much anything sad feelings can be cured with a glass (or two or three) of champagne. her genuine excitement and love of life and stress-free ways are traits I have seemed to assume and for that, I am so grateful. because of her, I will always make sure my babies know that if the whole world turns their backs on us, we’ll get through it together.
