Going to CURRENTS Art and Technology Festival this weekend? We're pouring beers and cocktails, and we've crafted a brand new drink to reflect the influence of both art and technology in cocktail creation. 🍹The Seven Seas Milk Punch, featuring Tumbleroot Navy Strength Gin and Oro Rum The Art: gin and rum initially sounds like an odd flavor combination, no? We aged both these spirits in ex-whiskey barrels, so we're leaning into their shared notes of vanilla and caramel, with some spiced notes coming especially from the gin. Mix in a little local honey for depth and sweetness and fresh-squeezed lemon for brightness 😚🤌 The Technology: what is a milk punch?? We take our cocktail and gently stir in whole milk, in a process called washing. We then let it sit, allowing the milk and citrus to interact and form curds, which we then fine-strain to separate. This process removes color, tannins, any solids, and leaves behind a velvety and flavorful liquid: your clarified milk punch. Top with some @angosturahouse and Peychaud's bitters for both texture and flavor (there's the Art again) and you have our Seven Seas Milk Punch. Bonus, the History: clarified milk punches date back to pre-refrigeration times, as the clarified drink is (relatively) shelf-stable once the solids are strained.
