On a visit to Waterford over the past weekend, I was lucky enough to catch this photo of Reginald's Tower in the city. Reginald's Tower (anglicised version of the Raghnall, a garlic derivation of the Viking ruler, Røgnvaldr) The tower being one of the oldest buildings in Ireland dates back to Anglo-Norman times (believed to be built in the 13th or 14th century) standing in place of a tower built by the Vikings during one of their raids on Ireland centuries before. #reginaldstower #tower #irishhistory #visitireland #discoverireland #irelandinspires #thisisireland #wanderinireland #travelireland #waterford #waterfordheritage #waterfordhistory #irelandsancienteast #vikingtriangle #vikingtrianglewaterford #waterfordquay #anglonorman #picoftheday #picoftheday📷 #photooftheday #irishphotographer #irishphotographersofinstagram #dmcphotography
It also has a cannon ball lodged in the side of it that was shot at the city by Oliver Cromwell. He never took Waterford! The only city he didn’t take !
