🗓️ Franz Joseph was a hard-working monarch whose day began at 3.30 am. In the course of his life, he received up to 260,000 people standing at a lectern in his audience chamber in the Hofburg. In keeping with his simple lifestyle, he slept in a brown, iron, portable bed after the imperial couple moved into separate bedrooms. 👸🏼 In his study, a portrait of Sisi with her hair down, painted by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, stands on an easel in front of his desk. Numerous photographs of the children and grandchildren hang on the walls. ✨ The Grand Salon served Franz Joseph as a reception room for family visits. A painting of the emperor in the regalia of the Order of the Golden Fleece hangs here, as well as a portrait of Crown Prince Rudolph, for whom he modelled shortly before his death. 💪🏻 Pro tip: Please don’t forget to get your time slot tickets online in advance to avoid long waiting times on site. 🧡 #SisiWaitsForYou #vienna

Sembra di vederlo al lavoro e contemplare il quadro di Sissi. Mi fa tenerezza immaginarlo in quel letto così piccolo. Mi dà l'idea della solitudine
