Vibrissea truncorum aka the water club. This slime coated ascomycetes was found growing on a saturated log that was wedged within in the full force of flowing water in a Welsh gorge. Clathrus archeri aka devils fingers, a rare find in the U.K. This is a non-native stinkhorn species in the U.K. first being spotted in the early 1900’s. Sightings were first picked up in the south west but as the climate warms its is now being spotted much further north and this one was spotted on the 11/11/22 north mid Wales, U.K. Saprobic in leaf litter and mulch preferring wet warm condition this fungi was found after a summer and autumn of drought on a south facing bank thick with early morning dew. Geoglossum cookeanum aka Earthtongue. Found at the end of the British wax cap season mid November 2023 in undisturbed grassland. Greek ‘geo’ meaning ‘earth’ and ‘glossum’ meaning ‘tongue’. Hazel glue fungus aka Hymenochaete corrugata. One of my most favourite fungi, I’d love to watch this on time lapse as it grabs its twig dish from what seems to be mid air.
