One of the things that we #k2ktoronto love to do is to see where exactly our donations go to. Today, we got to do just that at the @cp24chumchristmaswish warehouse. We first donated toys and gifts, then spent 3 hours at the warehouse sorting them, and packing them for recipients. Our team of 12 volunteers, together with our gift donors, made hundreds and hundreds of kids happy this holiday season. Special thanks to our warehouse volunteers and their family today. On June 9th, the first Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft in Canada took to the skies for its inaugural flight. The “Velis Electro” is currently the first and only commercially available, type-certified all-electric training aircraft in the world. The Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) and WISA (the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Aeronautics) of the University of Waterloo have been working through different stages of evaluating the aircraft, to support a certification decision in Canada. “The Electro Team” has been assembled to work on this project, and our #k2ktoronto Zach @acting.zacharyt is very honoured to have been selected as a pilot and research assistant on this 5-member team. 👨‍✈️ Zach flew the Velis Electro for the first time on August 9th. Every Toronto Blue Jays @bluejays fan loves Loonie Dogs nights. ⚾️ 🌭 Loonie Dogs night is presented by @schneiders and happens at every Tuesday home game at the Rogers Centre. Fans can purchase $1 hot dogs from various concession stands around the stadium. The next Loonie Dog Night is on Tuesday, August 15th. Let us support our home team! Have you tried gliding before? 👩‍✈️ Glider is an aircraft with no engine. A tow plane takes us 🆙 in the air, then releases us. The glider pilot then has to locate thermals (pockets of hot air) to generate lift and gain altitude. It’s the same technique large gliding birds (like hawks) use. A glider can circle inside a thermal for hours. It’s pretty impressive. But what fascinates me most is how the pilot can get us back to the airport with no engine. That is something I’m looking forward to learning this summer. Here is me on my first glider flight of the season, getting strapped in by my brother @acting.zacharyt who is a licensed glider pilot. 😊

Last Sunday, May 28th, I got a chance to be a part of the #k2ktoronto team that built a playground 🛝 for a very special little man called Emerson. Emerson is 4 years old. He’s happy, smiley, and super chatty. He is sooo cute. Under all the cuteness lies his unbelievable strength. Emerson is combatting high-risk Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, and spending much of the past year in treatments. I’m so, so happy that we can give him this playground to enjoy whenever he’s home. If you are 4-18 years old, living in or near Toronto, and interested in being a part of a tight-knitted group of people your age who have a passion for raising funds to give back to our community, please reach out to @kidstokids.runwayofhope I assure you it’s a very fulfilling mission that makes your heart very happy. Emerson’s playground is the 3rd playground K2K has built with @milliondollarsmilesnfp I’m so looking forward to many more to come.

#BehindTheScenes of our build for Emerson, from beginning to end. 28 May 2023 We sincerely thank @milliondollarsmilesnfp for coordinating this build for us. Salvina @salvina.m of MDS was super efficient and organized, and made sure we were all fed and hydrated. Andy @advancewithandy and Joe @joe_arko were our build leaders last year, so it was really great to see them again. Our last build was also on May 28th, and was Joe and Andy’s first build as leaders, so Happy Buildiversary! Thank you very much to both of them, and to their young protégé Michael who came out to help us as well. Our strong team of 18 volunteers worked very well together. It was a beautiful Sunday, and a beautiful way to spend quality time with our family and friends while bringing joy to a special young boy and his family. Emerson loves @pawpatrol , @officialblueytv , and rainbows 🌈, and our in-house artists gave him a beautifully designed picnic table. Thank you very much to all the #k2ktoronto family and friends, who helped us raise funds for this playground. This playground is for you as much as for Emerson. Special thanks to our volunteers of the day and their family.
