This is a collection dedicated to my cousin, Christian. These photos capture the views along one of Christian's favorite hikes. I took them the day before I heard the news of his passing. I happened to be in Sedona for work and was planning to stop by Bell Rock to photograph the sunset on my way home. Yet, as I drove past the turn for Cathedral Rock, a force compelled me to stop there instead. I believe Christian was guiding me in that moment to a place where we had created such cherished memories together. Christian and I shared a deep, unwavering love for the natural world and the endless beauty it holds. His boundless energy and profound admiration for the outdoors were both contagious and inspiring. Like me, Christian was a photographer who reveled in capturing the landscapes we explored. He was there when I first picked up a camera, and we ventured around together during his inaugural visit to Arizona.Christian graciously shared countless useful tips, creative techniques, and invaluable wisdom. He was always one of my biggest supporters, pushing me to keep growing and improving whenever I felt stuck or in an artistic rut. Whenever I immerse myself in nature, I know Christian is there, whispering new perspectives into my ear and guiding me along this creative journey we call life. Christian and I shared a close bond. We could talk about anything, delving into the deeper realms of spirituality and philosophy. The conversations we treasured hold a sacred place in my heart, helping me feel less alone in my unique thoughts and perceptions of reality. He was always there for me, a listening ear and source of the most heartfelt, insightful advice. Christian was not merely my cousin, the one who had been by my side since childhood, but my dearest friend – one I had hoped to continue exploring this world with for the rest of our lives. Christian, our family will forever miss the radiant light of your presence. Yet, you live on in our hearts, our memories, and the very essence of the mountains, waters, sunsets, and seasons that we hold dear. You live on through each of us These images are a tribute to you, my beloved cousin. May you rest in eternal peace.

Florida hit different this time… Once, my heart may have harbored disdain, For a place where conservatism’s reign, A land where acceptance seemed to wane, And differences were met with pain. But as I returned, with open eyes, A newfound wisdom began to arise, The beauty of the place, a tranquil prize, The beach, the ocean, under azure skies. No longer bound by others’ beliefs, The judgment and hate, like fallen leaves, I’ve found solace and peace in the gentle breeze, Embracing the love that my heart perceives. Reconnecting with friends and kin, Witnessing growth, the change within, Realizing how far I’ve also been, The journey of life, a dance to begin. For in the end, it is not the crowd, But the right companions that make us proud, Finding joy in their presence, laughter loud, Making life’s colors vibrant and endowed. So let the sable shores and gentle waves, Remind you of the beauty that life engraves, In every moment, as it gently paves, A path of love, where the heart behaves. May the journey continue, dear soul, With newfound wisdom, your spirit whole, Embracing the beauty that life does unroll, In the company of kindred spirits, your heart extol.
