“The Golem and Other Tales” is OUT!!!
Music tells stories, and that is what we have endeavored to explore with this new record. Side A features five compositions drawing on jazz, folk, fugue, and more. Side B features “The Golem,” a through-composed tone poem telling the story of a clay man brought to life.
Stream and download in all the normal places. Vinyl and CD is available for purchase online and in record stores worldwide.
You can also “experience” the golem suite in its entirety while following along with the story on a specially-designed web app.

Big thanks to all our friends, family and supporters. Can’t wait for you all to hear this music! Long live the Human Hands!
Got together with my good friend (and neighbor!) @michael.daves yesterday to shoot a video for our @artistworksinc schools. We played some tunes and talked about all sorts of things including shuffle bows, vocal phrasing on fiddle, Doc Watson and much more. You can find the full 37 minute video on either of our schools. A little throwback to the days of @livefromhereapm w/ @christhile playing “Gold Prisms Incorporated” by @googlebully , live in Minneapolis. Had a blast the other night at the @armorymn with Billy and the boys, and was reminded of this particular show from just over five years ago. Being in this neck of the woods brings back many fond memories from my time with the LFH family. It was always a wild ride and I sure am grateful to have been a part of it!
The Human Hands are putting out a new record and the first single is out NOW!! Stream “Ancient Technology” and pre-order “The Golem and Other Tales” today via link in bio.
Due for release on June 21st, the album features a through-composed suite of music based on the Jewish legend of a clay man brought to life—alongside five other short compositions. “Ancient Technology” is one of the latter.
Hard to believe it’s been six years since the Human Hands released “Too Hot To Sleep.” Since then, it’s been exciting to watch as everyone’s path has taken them in amazing directions. To be able to gather (and expand) this incredible musical family for a new recording was a total thrill and an honor: Alex Hargreaves (violin), Eddie Barbash (saxophone), Duncan Wickel (violin, cello, and bouzouki), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Roy Williams (guitar), and Andrew Ryan (bass). Jon Seale and Jacob Blumberg recorded and co-produced this project with me at Mason Jar Music in Brooklyn.
“The Golem and Other Tales” will be available on compact disc and a deluxe vinyl package featuring original artwork by Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Benincasa.
So, so, so excited for you to hear this crazy cool music!

Well this is pretty cool! I sure am proud of this album and grateful for everyone involved. What an honor to be a part of this amazing nominee list alongside my friends and heroes. I also had the pleasure of playing on @billystrings ‘ song California Sober, which is nominated for best American Roots Song and features the one and only @willienelsonofficial
Happy 87th Birthday to a true master of music, the living legend @hermetopascoal ! I’ll never forget that life changing moment back in 2008 when I first heard Hermeto’s music, thanks to @mikemarshall.official .
Festa Dos Deuses was the first record he played for me and to this day it continues to be some of my favorite music of all time. Here’s some exploring on a tune from that album entitled “Ginga Carioca”. It was a dream come true to finally see Hermeto and his incredible band live in my home state of Oregon last month.
Happy Hermeto Day!
It’s been just over a year since playing my first three shows with Billy and the boys at the Sylvee in Madison, and what a year it’s been! Just wrapped up our winter tour and I’m feeling grateful to be a part of such an amazing team of folks, both on stage and behind the scenes.
